There are many email clients out there that can be configured to check your Homestead mail. Below are some links to some popular clients you can use. They have detailed instructions on how to configure each one, with screenshots. If you have another email client which is not listed below, the settings below will work on nearly all email programs.

For IMAP
Username = Email Address
Password = your email password
Incoming server = imap.homestead.com
Outgoing server = smtp.homestead.com
Incoming port = 993
Outgoing port = 465
Turn the encryption/SSL setting on the incoming server to the On position

Important
: If you experience problems receiving email, you can change the encryption/SSL setting on the incoming server to the Off position, and change the incoming port # to 143.

For POP
Username = Email Address
Password = your email password
Incoming server = pop.homestead.com
Outgoing server = smtp.homestead.com
Incoming port = 995
Outgoing port = 465
Turn the encryption/SSL setting on the incoming server to the On position

Important: If you experience problems receiving email, you can change the encryption/SSL setting on the incoming server to the Off position, and change the incoming port # to 110.

If you aren't sure of the difference between POP and IMAP and why you would use one or the other, please click here. If you have a different client and would like instructions, please ask. We will see if we can accommodate the request.

Important Note: Software changes rapidly. If you see a future version of something we are missing, let us know. We will see if we can get it done. Keep in mind, newer versions often look the same or similar. Our settings are not changing, so you may be able to make it work

Converting my homestead e-mail/domain to a usable Outlook account?.

Can I convert my homestead business account: caitlin@willowenterprisesinc.com to open in another e-mail set-up, such as outlook? I use Outlook for everything as my entire company uses OneDrive and the entire Office365 program- at this point, I can't receive e-mails although I can send them, and the entire e-mail account looks like it was made in 1992- I really want to be able to use my domain name to access my large company's e-mails in a more professional setting- HELP!!!!

Sudden problem sending, but not receiving.

Out of the blue we can send, but not receive email for our peaceconnections.org email accounts, either on Thunderbird or Outlook. It worked fine yesterday. We had a similar issue a few weeks ago and it resolved itself by the next morning. Weird and inconvenient! What can you tell me?

The most likely reason is a security setting on your virus/security software. Some of these systems require that you have the email client SSL setting turned on. The first thing to try is:changing the encryption/SSL setting on the incoming server to the On position, and change the incoming port # to 995.

Can you try and update the email password. There may be a system issue on our end that is currently being investigated. For some users, resetting the password fixes the problem. https://community.homestead.com/homes...

Sorry, your question is a bit vague so I'm not sure I can fully answer it. The standard Hmail accounts operate on the Open-Xchange platformThis page has links to the most common email clients. If you are trying to configure Outlook, you'll find links to the various versions.  If you have a more specific question on features or functionality please feel free to explain.

Jamie6277.   This means there is an errror/typo in the configuration settings. This thread has links to various email client configurations. Take a look at the appropriate one and double check your settings.

Also, to assure you are using the correct password, make sure you can log into the email account on this site: http://email.homestead.com

If you still have problems, post to the related help topic for your particular email client.

Mike

Hi Dan4793,

Scroll to the section at the top where the links are and select Outlook 2013 from either POP or IMAP sections, depending on the configuration you use.  Not being able to send is almost always an incorrect setting in the More settings section under the Outgoing server tab.  Check all your settings and see if that resolves the issue.

Thanks

Drew

Both phone and computer will need to be set up as IMAP.  Check the links here for each device you own.  When using IMAP, you need to map the folders to the server so that each device syncs the mail to the same location.  This will be the final steps in each of the settings.

Thanks

You can find links to various configurations here. I suggest you download k-9 mail from Google play. It's free and much better than the stock email.

homesteadmail.com was for the old servers.

The settings in this topic are the correct ones. It will be imap.homestead.com for incoming or pop.homestead.com, and smtp.homestead.com for outgoing. If you saw a topic with homesteadmail in it, can you shoe me the YRL? I remove it.

Marlys4365,

See the outgoing settings at the top. You also need to be able to send your email address and password to the outgoing server. Our server requires a valid log in to send mail.
