This is a great conversation that's separate from the main topic, so I created a new topic to continue the discussion. Please reference the new topic here: How to forward email.

Hello Kathleen3868,

I checked to see if Google had updated anything, by exactly following this topic to set up a test account and it still is exactly the same, so can you tell us where you are getting stuck?

Thanks

Drew

I am having issues trying to setup my gmail account to check my hmail as well. I keep receiving an error when attempting to setup pop3. Receiving error message - Server denied POP3 access for the given username and password.

Hi Jill0054,

By default the user name will be just the part before the @.  You need to enter the entire email address in the user name field.  Let us know if that fixes it.

Thanks

Drew

Hi, what if I already have my homestead email going into my gmail but I just want to change the setting so it deletes the emails off of the homestead server as well? I can't find this option.

That is in the Google account settings. Look at step 4 in this topic. Uncheck the leave a copy on the server.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled I have an email problem and need some help!.

Ok - let me run this down from beginning so I can get the right help.
1. I wanted to transfer a .ca domain to homestead, but you do not sell .ca, so I registered it with go daddy and am pointing the domain.
2. I registered 2 emails with homestead for this domain. These emails used to be hosted by another domain host but are now with homestead.
3. The people currently use these 2 emails in gmail, and log in directly info@domainname.ca right into gmail.
4. Now the emails are with homestead, I can't figure out how to pop them into gmail. The problem is because they log in direct, I can't 'add an email' and use pop settings to pop it in there.
5. So how do I change the server on their gmails to take the homestead? I have dug and dug for info and am coming up empty.

Thanks!

Hi - this is not the solution for my problem. if you see what I put, they log in directly using their domain name, so we cant add these - this is the problem.

The only thing I can think of is that you have a Google Suites account and your email service was provided via Google directly. This topic will allow a gmail account to use POP settings to check Homestead mail. If you have a Google Suite account and log directly into the box via a Google mail interface, then you would need to update your MX records to put your mail service back with Google.

Last night I set up my Gmail to let me see my Homestead emails. However, the steps were not exactly like outlined here. For example, step 3 looked different. Anyway, one problem is that when I went to the Homestead mailbox this morning, there were NO emails in the Inbox. (And there were supposed to be several from the past which I hadn't dealt with yet.) What happened to them? Can I get them back?

For several years, all quote requests from my client's website have been set up to appear in the Homestead Inbox and then forwarded to my client and me at our personal email Inboxes. The reason I wanted to set up the mail client thing with Gmail was because a quote request that was in the Homestead mailbox was never forwarded to my personal Yahoo mailbox the other day. I've been concerned for awhile that too much spam in Homestead might cause my Yahoo account to block all mail from Homestead.

Both my client and I need to be able to view the Homestead emails in our personal email Inboxes. I thought POP allowed only one person to access the emails. Am I doing the right thing by using this POP mail client feature?

POP downloads the mail to the gmail box. By default, it should also leave the messages on the server(unless that has changed) More than one person would be able to use POP in that case, but if you set the server to delete the mail from the server when downloading to gmail, then they will be removed from the server.

I will look through the steps and get this topic updated, but once messages have been taken off the server via POP there isn't much we can do.

Can you let me know when you get this topic updated? The current steps don't quite match what I encountered on gmail. Thanks for all your help.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled how to I sync my roundcube email with my mobile gmail?.

It used to be synced then I had an issue with my acct and now it's not synced. I know I have something simple messed up but I just don't know what that is. :(
