Sitebuilder Plus: Delete a Category in SimpleStore
Here's how you delete a category in SimpleStore:

Added SimpleStore prior to 5/15/12 or using PayPal for checkout

  1. Click Ecommerce in the left navigation menu


  2. Click Add or edit products




  3. Click Categories and choose the category you no longer want.


  4. Click Delete this category next to the Save button.




  5. Click OK to confirm deletion.

Added SimpleStore after 5/15/12 and using Intuit Web Payment

  1. Click Ecommerce in the left navigation menu


  2. Click All Categories and choose Manage Categories from the drop-down menu.




  3. Click the Red X next to the categories you no longer want.


  4. Click OK to confirm deletion.

I am trying to delete a category in the store app and it won't let me. I tried the directions listed above, but I get an error message that says the category is in use (not true). Any other suggestions??

Hello - I have tried the process described above...drop-down box, manage categories, click on the "x"...and I keep getting a message that I cannot delete because the categories are "in use"....but they're NOT!?! Any help would be appreciated...I'm ready to just delete me whole site just to get past this issue!

They no longer show when viewing the store but they are still listed in the manage categories window.

Hi RW3667066,

I apologize this thread has some out dated instructions and I'll get it removed.

I did receive a message back and at this time, there is an issue where the system will now allow us to delete them, but it's being worked on. Our developers are in the process of creating a much improved update to the Simplestore which will have a fix for this. I do not yet have a date for when the update will be released but will likely be a few more months down the road. Sorry that I do not have an immediate fix for this.
