REGARDING EXTRA "A" CHARACTERS ON YOUR SITE
I am not sure how many "tech" support people at HS understand English, but for the last few days, I have introduced them to some of our widely used terms to express dissatisfaction! They are of no help. They are "not causing the problem, it is the 'engineers' who are trying to fix it." Well, one day our pages work right, the next day they don't. Something much have changed at HS. Seems like an easy fix- undo the change and set things right, put our pages back to normal- right? 4 days later, I am still waiting, and many of you are. Here is what I posted, and I plan to call 4 or 5 times a day next week until they fix this! My website is CANDGCOINS.COM Check out the pages and text boxes I have - I can't redo all of those pages! We need to flood this site with mail, and their phone lines with calls. This is assinine (I know, it spelled asinine....but my way seems more appropriate in this case!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I called them Wed...then 3 times on Friday. "Their engineers are working on the problem.!" I can solve the problems by "deleting all my text boxes, then adding them back without spaces. Extra spaces are causing the problem!" MY REPLY---look at the multitude of pages I have, and the many text boxes! NOT doing that. SOLVE THE PROBLEM! I did edit a page header, then copied and pasted it to abour 20 critical pages along with and edited footer and did the same. I am going to put a notice on each page I have to edit that says "NEVER USE HOMESTEAD FOR YOUR WEBSITE" I am betting they don't solve this. Their other solution was to "recreate all the pages on the NEW building platform! Try calling web,com who bought them...for only $2000 they will build you a couple of pages and you can sell up to 10 items! More pages? More money! More items? More money! Ithink I see the objective here. I think many of us are screwed!

Our site also has the "A"s everywhere throughout. Do certain fonts cause the problem? Or is it happening with all fonts?

Well said Greg - we are paying big money for this so called service. I have 16 websites with this crowd and most pages are corrupted with AAAA . I have been working on my historic sites for 24 years and it looks like all going down the drain along with my money ! This is not the first time they have stuffed up our sites . The last stuff up I had to manually change thousands of files. ! Homestead fix this problem otherwise their might be legal action.!!

My site is having the same 'A' issue!! Almost every page is messed up with dozens of A's everywhere! I just noticed it today! I don't know how long it has been like that. When I go into the sitebuilder, everything is perfect, but, when I try to publish, the A's are still there! I called them and they are aware of the problem and said their team is working on it. They told me the same thing about recreating all the pages on the NEW building platform! Seriously?? How long have all of you been experiencing this?

Go here to begin your education, it appears there are only about 15 people still using the old builder...and they are trying to drive us away!! Join the club. Discussions hot and heavy the last few days! Greg

I've done some work on trying to fix the strange characters that showed up in one of my HS websites and here's a quick, partial fix for now.
The coding issue with HS back-end is messing up when formatting changes are added to text. So when I retyped the text and made some text bold or added a color, the odd characters came back.
So just copy and paste all your text into a note app like OneNote where the formatting is removed. Or paste into MS Word and remove the formatting. Then paste it back into your text box. If the problem comes back, you might have to delete the text box and create a new one. You won't be able to format the text within a paragraph, but you can format an entire paragraph or headline as long as you have a hard return before and after the text. It looks like it's the transition from one format to another within a paragraph that is causing the issue.
NOTE: before you make changes to your text take a screen shot of your web pages so you'll know how to make the formatting edits after HS fixes this issue. Or just take photos of the pages with your smart phone for future reference.

Jim see my comments on the other post you made. This is a work around, not a fix. I came up with one, still very time consuming. Not many pages, not a big problem. Lotta pages....huge problem. On the other post, I asked you to visit my site and click around ....a nightmare to change all. I have spent a couple of hour just getting 4 or so to look right. go here, poke, then tell me how easy you think it will be for me! This needs a "fix" not a bandaid. Thanks Greg

Please stop being a Karen all of you. I have had homestead since 2009. They will fix this, things break. Just because you pay for something doesn't guarantee it will be perfect. This is life. Stop complaining like a child.

Ken you are welcome to your opinion (Oh I have been on here way longer than you) but with this on going for2 months.....my money is on NO fix. I am only paying $99.99 a year for this, but that still gives me (an others who pay much more the right to complain. Post your site, let us see how many pages you manage and what they do. I posted mine, visit it and let me know how easy it would be for you to fix that. Again, your opinion is yours....and mine and Karen's are ours. I for one, hope in this case, you are right. Greg (I hope Karen did not mind I used her name, I am not sure why she was mentioned at all. she has rights like the rest of us.)

I notice that they marked some of the threads as solutions! Those of us still fighting the problem know that is not the truth..
I posted this: I HAVE NO CLUE, NOT ONE..WHY THEY MARKED THIS AS "ACCEPTED SOLUTION" The lazy liars have had months to fix this....it appears they are not going to. Greg 8/27/24
There are too few of of for them to fix this....this is a money losing/money saving option for them.. They would rather lose us and the few dollars we pay (especially me) instead of pacifying us with an answer. They have no real reason to fix this for us. Period! Greg
