MAC El Capitan & Iphone 6 upgrades: Can't reply or send emails

Recently upgraded operating system to E Capitan. I'm receiving emails on both devices, but can't reply or send new emails. Also, my notes didn't transfer over. Apple Help said to contact Homestead. We checked the ports, everything is set up in imap, etc....still no luck. Please help!
