Thumbnail Error

My site is published, but my thumbnail shows an error and says my site is unpublished. How do I update the thumbnail? Is this a glitch in the Homestead matrix?

To fix a published site showing an "unpublished" or error thumbnail, republish the site to refresh the cache, or manually upload a new image in your site's Project/Site Settings under "Open Graph" or SEO settings. For platforms like Webflow or Canva, closing the editor, waiting 10 minutes, and hard-refreshing your dashboard (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R) can resolve it.
Here are the specific, actionable steps to update your site thumbnail:
  • Republish to Trigger Update: The most common fix is to simply republish your site, which often forces the CMS to generate a new preview image.
  • Update via Open Graph Settings: Go to your site's Project Settings, look for "SEO" or "Open Graph," and upload a new, specific image to replace the error thumbnail.
  • Clear Browser/System Cache: If the old, broken thumbnail still appears, clear your browser's cache or your computer’s thumbnail cache (e.g., del thumbcache* in Windows command prompt) to ensure you are not seeing a stored, broken image.
  • Wait and Refresh: If the site is newly published, it may take a few minutes to sync. Wait 10 minutes and perform a hard refresh on your dashboard.
If the issue persists, check that the image you are using for the thumbnail meets the platform's dimension requirements and is in the correct format (e.g., JPG or PNG).
