Yes. You can design and build your new website, publish, and activate it whenever you're ready.

Hello Russell, I am not able to figure out how to do this.  When I type my domain name in I get this message. Can you tell me how to get past this?

@chandra7536 Please review:

To build another Homestead site with an existing domain, you'll first create a new site within your Homestead account, then go to the Domains section to change the site association, pointing your domain to the new site, which might involve editing DNS records (A records/CNAMEs) through your domain's provider or Homestead's manager if nameservers are already pointed to Homestead, ensuring you also update any specific www subdomain settings for the new site.
Here's a step-by-step process for Homestead:
1. Create Your New Website:
  • Log into your Homestead account.
  • Go to the Websites Manager and select Add a new site.
  • Give your new site a unique name and build it out as desired, but don't worry about the domain yet.
2. Link Your Domain:
  • Navigate to the Domains section in your Homestead account.
  • Find your domain name and click to manage it.
  • Look for an option like Change Site Association or Use a Domain You Already Own, and select the new site you just created from the dropdown menu.
  • Save the changes.
3. Update DNS Settings (If Needed):
  • If your domain already uses Homestead Nameservers: You might just need to adjust the DNS records within Homestead's DNS Manager, often by editing the A records and adding specific CNAMEs for the new site as guided by Homestead support, potentially requiring removal of old records.
  • If your domain points elsewhere: You'll need to go to your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap) and update the nameservers to Homestead's, or use their DNS editor to point A records and CNAMEs to the new site's server information.
4. Finalize Settings:
  • In Homestead, check the Advanced DNS settings for the domain and potentially edit the www subdomain to point to the primary domain name.
  • Publish your new website within the WebsiteBuilder to make it live.
Key Point: You may need to contact Homestead support for specific technical steps, especially if you're connecting multiple domains or have complex DNS settings, as they often need to run conversions for additional sites.
