Duplicate website for editing

Is it possible to duplicate my website for editing while the current website remains published? I need to do major work on my site to make it "mobile friendly" but I don't want to take down the current site for that long. Is it possible to duplicate the site, do all the editing and upgrades on the unpublished site, and then "swap-out" the new with the old?

Hello,

You can't duplicate the site as a whole, but you can create a new site and recreate your current site with whatever changes you want to make, then switch your domain to the new site once you're done.

You can copy and paste anything to a completely new site if it's in a box.  Make sure you copy with control C and not the copy icon because that only duplicates it onto the page you are working on.  After you control C, go to your new site and control p and voile! the content you had in a box from your original site, is now on your new site.

You can copy anything from your original site and paste onto a new site if the content you are copying is in a box.  In order for this to work, you have to use the control C and P commands and not the duplicate icon.  Go to your original site, click on the box that is surrounding your content, control C, go to your new site and control p and voila! there it is!
