Sitebuilder Plus: View File Manager

Sitebuilder Plus: View File Manager

Here's how you find the file manger:

    1. Click on the Websites Manager in the left navigation menu. Then, click Edit Site.

    2. Click your domain name or sitename at the top. Then, choose View File Manager from the drop-down menu.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled how do i get to the root directory of my website?.

I am trying to install a drop down menu that needs to have html to paste the code [1] below where you want your menu to show up. This code can be placed anywhere between the and tags.

Use the import option and it uploads to the root. You might try our new Websitebuilder which has drop downs built in

When I click on VIEW FILE MANAGER, it just won't load. I get a blank page, now matter what site I'm on.

Also, I have sitebuilder-plus loaded on both my desktop and laptop, and file manager isn't loading on either one. I used only the desktop last night and it worked, but not today. I have 20,000 users, and they live and die with my website every day in the basketball season.

@john5349 Sitebuilder Plus operates from the cloud. Are you using the Sitebuilder Desktop Platform?

I've had this exact same issue for the last few days as well.  I am unable to access the File Manager.  It just says "loading".  Is there any resolution to this?  I use Sitebuilder Plus.

@eric7375 Logon to your editor. Don't wait for it to time-out.
The file manager can be accessed in the top right of the editor, click on the domain and then click view file manager. https://community.homestead.com/conversations/sitebuilder-plus/sitebuilder-plus-view-file-manager/5f2a9a8058180958844887b8

Yes, I do know that.  It's when you click on "view file manager" that it times out with "loading."  I've used the file manager for many years and have never had this issue.  I've tried it on all of my homestead websites and with multiple different computers and the same issue persists.

I can't access the File Manager for www.montachusettagriculturalalliance.com . When I click on Edit Site, I go to the WebsiteBuilder and no URL or anything else identifying the site is visible. There's nothing to click on and no drop down menu. All there is, is the drop-down menu of page names.

Why are the functions for uploading no longer available?
Is whoever owning Homestead.com trying to drive us to another website?

looks that way and now it appears that they are simply unplugging the entire shabang Jan 15, 2026

This information is incorrect.  For my website, Yamakawadojo.NET there is no file manager!  None of these instructions come close to describing what in on my screen. Why this website is different from my two others with Homestead is beyond me.

@suzanne4720https://yamakawadojo.net/ looks good to me. It's built on the new websitebuilder platform. Perhaps your other sites use Sitebuilder Plus or Sitebuilder desktop platforms. SB+ has a file manage. Websitebuilder does not.

File manager for the Old Site Builder Plus has been removed by the host, a couple weeks ago or so. I was saving files one day, because they are going to delete all the Site Builder Plus sites. A few days later I was prevented from saving any additional files. The Archive option does not appear to work either. It spins and spins for hours, but never completes a download of your site.

Tonight for whatever reason, I was able to log into Site Builder Plus & update a page.  There new website Builder is not user friendly at all. The lettering is white, you can't read it. I did not find an option to change the color of the lettering. They brag about learning videos, but those are so small, I can't see them with reading glasses and a magnifying glass.

Site builder Plus worked tonight, at least allowed me to update one page. There new Website Builder is not user friendly. You can't read the white lettering. I can not find an option to change it to black. They brag about the learning video's, which are so small and grainy, I can't see them with reading glasses and a magnifying glass.

Study these instructions:

https://community.homestead.com/conversations/sitebuilder-plus/sitebuilder-plus-add-or-edit-text/5f2a9b3958180958845ebfba

Select text and master the properties editor.

To access the Properties Editor in Homestead Sitebuilder Plus, you simply click on the specific element (text, image, menu, etc.) you want to edit directly on your page; the editing options and settings for that element will then appear in the panel on the right-hand side of your screen. For page-level settings like titles or descriptions, use the "Page Settings" button in the top toolbar after selecting your page in the Websites Manager.
For Element-Specific Properties (Right Panel):
  1. Log in to your Homestead account and go to your website.
  2. Click "Websites Manager" in the left menu, then "Edit Site".
  3. On the page you're editing, click on the item you want to change (e.g., a text box, an image in a gallery).
  4. The Properties Editor will automatically appear on the right, showing options for that element (like text formatting, link settings, or gallery image details).
This video shows how to find and use the properties editor for different elements:
For Page-Level Properties (Titles, Meta Descriptions):
  1. Follow steps 1 & 2 above to get into the Sitebuilder.
  2. In the top toolbar, click the "Page Settings" button.
  3. Here you can update the Page Title and Meta Description (Page Description) for SEO.

I need to be able to access files so I can create a link to a thumbnail file through a third party data sorting app. Otherwise I can't make the search option on my website work. If I don't have that option, I'm dead in the water. Is there any way for me to find the url for my thumbnail image?

@bo9896 Go to your website online and select the image. The url for the image will appear on the address line.

I found a link to Sitebuilder plus and clicked on that, but it is just sitting and spinning.

Is that something that still works? I'm a little confused on the difference between them.

I found a workaround. I had to drop the image into the page and hide it and then copy  the web address and paste it. I'm getting too old for this stuff. If Homestead is phasing out, please let me know as I count on my website heavily for business.
