Sitebuilder Plus: Link Text

Sitebuilder Plus: Link Text
Here are instructions to add a link to existing text.

  1. Click Websites Manager in the left navigation menu. Then, click Edit Site.

  2. Go to the page with text you'd like to be a link.

  3. Double-click on the text box that contains the text you want to be a link. Then, highlight the specific text that will be the link.

  4. On the right, in Text Settings click Link. You may have to scroll down to see the button.

  5. In the Link window, finalize the link settings.

  6. What do you want to link to?
    • Existing Page or File -- Use this if you'd like to link the text to another page within your website.

    • URL (Web Address) -- Use this if you'd like to link to another website.

    • Email Address -- Use this if you'd like the text to link to an email address.

    • Another Area on this page -- Use this if you'd like the text to link to another area on the same page.

How do you want the link to open?
Choose open in the same window or in a new browser window.

  7. Save and Publish your website to see the text link live.

I have a page named Rooms. We are a bed and breakfast. I want to have each of the rooms linked to another page with more information about that room.

There are several ways this could be done depending on how you want to layout the site and have it function. You'll probably want to create the new pages first, then just create standard text links form one page to the next, as shown above.

I think that the publish did work and you are seeing a cached copy of the page.  Go to the published site and hit your f5 key.

Follow the instructions above to recreate the hyperlink.

Well you were right sooo right and thank you so!!!  The f5 did the trick..now I'm going to try to recreate the hyperlink but just can't thank you enough for your attention, on a Sunday...during a Hawks playoff game no less!! You are the best (unless of course you were hoping the Timberwolves would win!!)  LOL  All seriousness, your attention to my problem as a newbie was much appreciated!  Is there somewhere that I can put in the details of how you were so attentive and helpful so folks will know??!!

Good morning.  I am glad I was able to help.  You can press the like link on any post that you find helpful.  You are also able to create a topic in here as praise instead of a question or problem.

How can I make a link on my site open in a new tab?  Thanks.

When you are creating the links,  (see step #5 above), you will need to click the button next to "In another browser window".  This adds the following to the code " target="_blank" and tells the browser to open the link in a new window.  If you actually want the new page to open in a new tab rather than a new window, then you'll find that setting in your web browser.  if you can't find it let us know which browser you are using.

Yes, the instructions at the top of the page shows how to create the link in Sitebuilder Plus.  Are the pages you are linking to, on your site, or another?

I haven't made them yet.  I don't want them to show unless they hit the link.  How do I make them hidden?

Link to other websites is redirecting to "address is invalid" message.

I have created a few links to other websites on my webpage, but when the link is selected, I am redirected to 'The address is not valid' message.  The webpage addresses are  definitely correct, but I have obviously set up the link incorrectly.  What can I do to fix this?

Agnes5818,  It looks like you've just added the URLs as normal text. You will need to actually create links to the pages as the next step. Follow the steps on this thread, and let us know if you run into any problems.

You just create a normal text link. Follow the steps in this thread. When you get to step #5, there's button for an email link.

Passworded a page, Text links for Navigation not working. Help?.

I have passworded a page on my website, per instructions given, It says that the best way to add navigation is to add text links, instead of a navigation bar. But I can not seem to get the text links to work for navigation back to the rest of my site. Help?

When linking text, an option is to link to an email address.

Hope this helps

Hi Kristina 7861,   You'll find the steps here.  If you want to link an image instead of text, just click on the image instead of highlight the text and you'll see the link option on the right side of the screen.

Please see the article above. The choice you want to select for this would be 'URL (Web Address)' in the example above.
