Help on the best way to post multiple pictures for family to view or download?

Looking for the smartest way to upload groups of files for family to view and or download.  I am using the regular site builder tool not the web based one, I tried using photo gallery but don't like how I can't import multiple photos I have to do one at a time which is a real pain when you have over 1000 photos. 

What I did was made folders of pictures from various branches of our family and I am trying to figure out the easiest way for my family members to come in and see a particular family and their photos and download them if desired.

The main issue with using the photo gallery button thing is I see no way to import more than one photo at a time, which would take me ages to do each one one at a time, I thought about making each folder a zip file for download but i'd like them to be able to view them too by clicking on them or something.
