1001 cloudflare error.

This has been going on for a week. A client rebranded his website. We kept the same site with the same IP. We keep the nameservers with his provider as they have associated e-mail addresses. We are forwarding with IP A record only. Tech support seems to not be able to secure the SSL. We have done this many times over the years, but have had trouble in the last few months. The website in question is cloverdale3d.com thanks in advance.

DNS resolution error

What happened?

You've requested a page on a website (cloverdale3d.com) that is on the Cloudflare network. Cloudflare is currently unable to resolve your requested domain (cloverdale3d.com). There are two potential causes of this:

  • Most likely: if the owner just signed up for Cloudflare it can take a few minutes for the website's information to be distributed to our global network.
  • Less likely: something is wrong with this site's configuration. Usually this happens when accounts have been signed up with a partner organization (e.g., a hosting provider) and the provider's DNS fails.

MAKE YOUR WEBSITE SECURE:
When attempting to logon, did you get a message that your site is not secure or 1001 error code. Did you recently add Cloudflare? Most likely, you tried to add Cloudflare to secure your website and you've failed to set up the DNS record as directed. Review the platform options below and review your installation to ensure it's correct.

Select the instructions for the platform you're using. Follow the instructions carefully. If you're having trouble with the Cloudflare setup, you can always call for assistance at 1-800-710-1998.

My client has 4 e-mails associated with this product, and changing the NS records to Cloudflare would disable them. I have repeatedly done this exact thing for over 20 years, and I have been with Homestead since 2002.

I have tried...I have a long long list of notes from tech support. they have not resolved. Even the senior tech advisors are stumped and have no resources.

"My client has 4 e-mails associated with this product, and changing the NS records to Cloudflare would disable them."

This is correct, changing the nameservers (NS records) to Cloudflare will likely disrupt email functionality for your client because email relies on a separate set of records called MX records, which are typically not managed by Cloudflare when you simply change the nameservers; essentially, the new nameservers won't know where to route the emails, causing delivery issues for the 4 associated email addresses.
What to do:
  • Configure MX records on Cloudflare:
To use Cloudflare for both website and email, you need to add the correct MX records for your email provider within your Cloudflare DNS settings, ensuring email can still be delivered properly.
  • Consider a hybrid setup:
If you want to manage website performance with Cloudflare but keep email with the current provider, you can leave the MX records pointing to your current email server while only changing the A records for your website to use Cloudflare.
Important points to remember:
  • Backup your existing MX records:
Before making any changes, always back up your current MX records to easily revert if necessary.
  • Consult your email provider:
Contact your client's email provider to confirm the best way to configure MX records for their specific service when using Cloudflare.
