To redirect your Homestead site to a GoDaddy website, you must update the DNS records in your Homestead account to point to your new GoDaddy IP address or set up domain forwarding from Homestead to your GoDaddy URL. The most direct method is updating the "A" record in Homestead to the GoDaddy server IP.
Steps to Redirect Homestead to GoDaddy:
  1. Get Your GoDaddy Site IP: Log in to your GoDaddy portfolio, navigate to your website builder dashboard, and find the A record IP address (usually found under Website Settings or Domain Settings).
  2. Access Homestead DNS Management: Log in to your Homestead account and navigate to your domain settings, often found under "Domain Central" or "DNS Management".
  3. Update the A Record: Locate the A record (usually with the host @) and edit it to point to the IP address obtained from GoDaddy in Step 1.
  4. Update CNAME (Optional): Edit the www CNAME record to point to your domain name (e.g., @ or yourdomain.com) to ensure www traffic is properly routed.
  5. Save Changes: Save the DNS settings. Changes can take up to 72 hours to propagate, but often take effect within minutes.
Alternatively, you can use Domain Forwarding within Homestead's DNS settings to permanently forward http://yourhomesteadsite.com to https://yourgodaddysite.com (using a 301 redirect).
Note: It is highly recommended to transfer your domain registration from Homestead to GoDaddy entirely if you intend to use GoDaddy for all hosting and management in the long term, which takes about 60 days to allow for transfer.
