When setting up smtp and pop to Gmail Username and Password is incorrect
When setting up to sync emails in homestead account with Gmail, i get "Username and Password is incorrect" when setting up outgoing mail (smtp). It accepts the same username and password for the incoming server (pop). I am entering the correct un and pw. This error occurs on both an Android phone and a Windows 11 desktop in Chrome.

Mine all of a sudden stopped working on my iphone I removed the email and am trying to re-add and keep getting error the POP server smtp.homestead.com is not responding. Do you have any thoughts on this?

I solved my problem. It turns out Homestead was requiring me to change my password on my homestead mail account. It hadn't been changed in a while. Once I did this I was able to set up my gmail account to send outgoing mail using my homestead mail (SMTP) as an alias. I can't explain why it wasn't a problem with POP or why homestead never notified me that I should change my password.
