PLEASE do something about the spam

And PLEASE do not reply to me with a form email. I am aware of filters, settings, etc. And no, I do not want to migrate email to a different platform or upgrade to this or that. I would like this problem to be addressed on the server end. This is NOT an end user issue as the problem started within the last several months and is persisting in spite of the best efforts of end users to establish filters, adjust DNS settings etc. PLEASE address this on the server end. Thank you.

Hello Good Day!

If you connect your email to Outlook 365 or Gmail, you can also report unwanted emails as spam directly through those platforms. In RoundCube, you already have the option to create filters, which can help reduce the number of spam messages reaching your inbox. Please note, however, that spam is an ongoing issue, as soon as one group of spammers is taken down, new ones often appear.

Another recommendation is to avoid publishing your email address directly on your website, since it can be crawled and collected by spammers. Using a contact form instead of a visible email address can help minimize exposure, If none of these measures, such as whitelisting, creating filters in RoundCube, or using Cloudflare (CF) to add DKIM or DMARC records resolve the issue, the final option is to upgrade your email to a professional service like Google Workspace, which offers stricter filtering systems and enhanced protection against spam. Thank you

@judelyn9690 respectfully, the poster asked to not be responded to with a form email and that is exactly what you did.  I've seen this response on almost every post reporting these spam email issues.  We are not talking about a couple of spam posts a day - Homestead's customers are being blasted with 50-100 spam emails a day from the identical "companies".  This is not a coincidence. Homestead needs to take responsibility for this and fix it.

@office_manager I honestly am wondering whether any humans are actually monitoring any of the help threads...

@heather6548

We have provided the information you need regarding the spam issue.

Spam is unavoidable—even large and well‑known companies encounter it. Since Homestead operates in a shared hosting environment, spam is inevitable and can arise for several reasons:

Compromised device – Clicking unsecured links in emails may expose your system.

Shared hosting exposure – All customers share resources, which increases vulnerability.

As mentioned previously, you have several options to reduce spam:

Add DMARC/DKIM – Configure these records in your zone file using a third‑party service like Cloudflare to improve email reputation.

Manual filters in RoundCube – Create custom filtering rules to block unwanted mail.

Upgrade to professional email – Services like Google Workspace offer stricter spam filtering and better protection.

We are also investigating whether this issue is related to the server.

For customers who want full control over spam filtering, we highly recommend moving to a dedicated server.

And yes, we are all humans, doing our best to address these challenges and provide you with the most effective solutions.

Thank you,
Homestead Support

@judelyn9690 I have been a customer for over 20 years. I have tolerated a lot of hiccups with this email platform over the years. Generally speaking, customer service has been responsive and polite. But you must understand it's upsetting receive copied/pasted responses to these concerns, ESPECIALLY for those of us who ARE experienced users and (I would like to believe) reasonably tech savvy.

I HAVE DMARC/DKIM set up.

I manage my DNS settings in Cloudflare.

I DO have filters set up in Roundcube.

However, I am NOT willing to pay for an additional workaround when this is clearly a NEW issue that is not the end users' fault.

I am not a moron; please don't treat me as such.

The only thing keeping me from switching providers right now is the dread of having to rebuild my site yet again. I have stuck with this company for many years, but to be honest, these kinds of replies are really indicating to me that it's time to move on.

@heather6548 Update on Spam Filtering Progress

We’ve already blocked a significant number of spam senders, and please be assured that our team continues to actively block more as they appear. Spam is an ongoing challenge even large companies face it because of shared hosting environments and multiple possible sources.

Your account has been added to our engineers’ watchlist for ongoing monitoring.
