Sept. 4, 2013 - FAQ's: Intuit Websites transition to Homestead

Could you tell me more about Homestead?
Intuit Websites, powered by Homestead will be transitioning over to our Homestead brand on September 11, 2013. Founded in 1998, Homestead Websites is our flagship brand where our SiteBuilder originated. Homestead is a provider in the web site creation, marketing and hosting business. Homestead helps small businesses establish their presence on the Web, maintain and promote their site, and sell or market their products and services—all without mastering programming or design.

Why is Intuit Websites being transitioned to the Homestead brand?
This transition will help us to consolidate and focus our efforts, in order that we can deliver an even greater customer experience and further develop and improve our SiteBuilder. Ask a question

Will this change affect my service today?
No, your website and other online services will continue to work as expected, with no disruption in service. Your pricing will stay the same as well.Ask a question

Will there be any future changes made to my website services or features? We plan to continue supporting the products and services we offer today. Our goal is to enhance the product and provide you with additional services over time. Should we make changes to the products we offer, we will provide advance notice of the changes. Ask a question

How do I access my account and website?

How do I log in to my Webmail mailbox?
Visit Homestead.com and choose Webmail in the upper right corner, and enter your credentials. Or click here to access Webmail. Ask a question

My website uses an Intuit subdomain (yoursite.intuitwebsites.com) – what do I need to know?
Beginning on September 11, 2013 your site’s web address will be changed to this address format“yoursite.homestead.com”. After September 11, 2013 visitors to your old“yoursite.intuitwebsites.com” address, will automatically be redirected to your new Homestead address. This redirect will remain in place until November 1, 2013.
To continue driving traffic to your site, you’ll need to update any marketing campaigns to include your new site address, such as:

  • Email marketing campaigns

  • Pay-per-click campaigns, such as Google AdWords

  • Online advertising campaigns

  • Printed materials, including flyers, brochures and business cards

  • Print advertisements

  • Links from directories or partners who link to your site

Ask a question

Again, your website can be accessed from both URL’s until November 1. From that point forward, the Intuit Websites URL will not redirect, so please be sure to make any and all necessary changes before then.

How will this change affect my online marketing campaigns (on Google, Facebook, etc.)
If your site uses an Intuit Websites subdomain, you will need to log into those online advertising accounts and edit the website address where you point visitors to, replacing the Intuit websites address (e.g. yoursite.intuitwebsites.com) with the Homestead websites address (e.g. yoursite.homestead.com) Ask a question

If visitors have my site bookmarked, do I need to inform them of this change?
Yes, you should let your regular visitors know about the change. You could email them or edit your website home page to include a brief note about the change. You might even choose to put a note on your website letting visitors know of your new web address.Ask a question

I have a SearchLight campaign with you. Will those ads change?
Yes, we will change the destination URL in the ads to your new website address, if you had an Intuit Websites subdomain. You will not need to take any action. Ask a question

I am on a subdomain and would like to change to a domain name for my site, e.g. yoursite.com. How do I do that?
You can make that change by logging in to your account, going to the Domains tab and following these steps, or you can call us at 800–710–1998. Ask a question

I have other products from Intuit. How does this affect those?
There will be no change to any other Intuit accounts or products you may have. Ask a question

I noticed a charge on my credit card statement from Homestead. What is this?
Now your monthly subscription will show on your credit card statement as “Homestead Website Service” instead of “Intuit Websites Services.” There are no other changes to your bill. Ask a question

Will I still have the same Customer Support and team that I had before?
Yes, our support team which has been supporting both Intuit Websites and Homestead brands will continue to support your account. Ask a question
