Changing from .org to .gov

It's been suggested the MIchigan townships with websites move to .gov site.

Does anyone have experience with this? Does it then change the Homestead site and the ability to use the Homestead website builder development tools?

Hello,

These are the list of domains available to use with Homestead:

We cannot manage a .gov domain name properly. It could be added manually, but then you wouldn't be able to edit the nameservers or DNS on your end.

What I need is to be able to edit/update the website. I'm not sure I'll need to edit nameservers or DNS settings.

Can the change from .org to .gov be made? If so, please suggest to procedure.

Thank you,

Mike

You would need to register the domain through a different company. Once you have that domain name, go under the Domains tab in your Homestead account and choose the option to "Use a Domain I Already Own".
