I am running Windows 7 and IE10. I have been trying to publish updates to my website since 17 Mar 2013. First the Sitebuilder update wouldn't go through - I tried Force Update - nothing - so I took Sitebuilder off my computer and reinstalled it. Now when I try to publish my site shadyoaksmustangranch.net I get a box that says Upgrade or Close Window - I don't like either of those options. I have tried using the Upload button in the Files Manager - that doesn't work either.

I have tried using Chrome instead of IE10 - I have tried turning off IE10 - I don't know what else to try - help please.

It might be that your Sitebuilder is not functioning correctly on Windows 7. Windows underwent some changes that affected the desktop version of Sitebuilder. Consider updating your account to the new editor, Sitebuilder Plus. It is an online editor. There is no additional charge to change to Sitebuilder Plus. A Homestead representative would have to convert you.

Thanks

I don't want sitebuilder plus online editor i want sitebuilder stand alone to WORK is anyone at homestead even trying to fix this or are we forced to move to site builder plus to get our windows 7 machines to work with sitebuilder from homestead?

Hi William0820, You can try to do a clean install of SiteBuilder if you wish. See this thread: https://community.homestead.com/homes...

If you can't get it to install and function correctly, your best option is to use SB+. They have not made any upgrades to the desktop version for a couple of years now as all the demand is for cloud based services.

I did get some tier 2 support today from Matt B who fixed the issue on both of my pcs by signing in remotely and moving/deleting/installing a few things, I tried SB+ it was horrible first off it automatically adds this annoying footer thing to every page you edit, second it has another annoying popup for social posting, and third you can't even have multiple pages open at once to move files around all things I use the desktop version for (and more but I won't bore ya with it). If they could make SB+ do the stuff SB desktop does then I would have no trouble converting.

I'm glad for you too. Basically I was told when I called that SB+ was my only option and it is certainly not as good as the desktop version!!!

I was told that too Roger, so glad they were able to convert me back and that I got tier 2 support who offered solutions vs telling me to upgrade (LOL) to SB+ (not an upgrade for me). Matt B fixed me up on both my computers neither of which would load sitebuilder, I would see a splash screen then it would stop loading on one, the other would load but gave an error about needing to upgrade so i could do stuff but couldn't "publish" it. Matt fixed both for me via signing in remotely and doing his thing it was fun to watch him click around fix and start sitebuilder on both machines :)

I have been with homestead since the mid 1990's and overall I love it but don't mess with my sitebuilder desktop SB+ is NOT a equiv product and drop the annoying automatic adding of a homestead footer in sb+ that alone made me say no to it.

I am glad that you folks were able to get desktop working again. I want to just let you know that all development is directed towards Plus. With Windows evolving, there might be a time when we can't get desktop to work any longer. We always look for helpful comments on what we can do to improve Plus. If you have ideas, please post them here as the developers can then see what users want to see.

Thanks

Drew please don't take this as offensive i'd much rather comment and hope they take it to heart if they are going towards online plus vs desktop.

When i switched the main things i disliked (and i liked the idea of a webbased version of sitebuilder) but these few main big things i saw as red flags.

First everytime you open a page and edit it it automatically put a homestead footer ad on the bottom of each page, i saw no way to turn that option off (if I am incorrect on that lmk) that is annoying and not necessary if I want that let me choose it vs applying it automatically.

Second, you can't work in multiple pages, in quite a few of my sites i want to carry something from one page to another so in sitebuilder desktop I have 3-4-5-6 pages open at once (in tabs) i saw no way to do this in the online version making things a bit slower to move things around if desired.

Third when you publish something you get that annoying popup about sharing it socially, i saw no way to turn that off either (annoying if you are doing a lot of editing) and again should have a way to turn that OFF vs being default.

Unless I am missing something I sure couldn't figure out how to turn those things off at least, I am sure in some corporate meeting they thought yes brand each page and yes include social media popus but to the end user (myself) it's annoying as heck!

I spent about an hr using it after they told me to just switch and i was ok with the switch but not with how the program worked vs the desktop version, those main things above are what i experienced right off the bat I didn't dig too deeply into it due to those glaring things to start, if you guys are focusing on the plus builder fix those things before you ask members like myself from the old days (i was with homestead when pages were free even).

I am not opposed to change or using an online editor just make it more like the desktop version and remove the spam and I am there.

This is a great conversation that's separate from the main topic, so I created a new topic to continue the discussion. Please reference the new topic here: Some ideas for Sitebuilder Plus

No Drew my Sitebuilder problem was NOT answered since I am still stuck with SB+.

I'm with William0820 -- automatically adding a footer to every page edited is very annoying, the popup for social posting sucks, and not being able to have multiple pages open at once to move files around really slows things down. Additionally - I have not been able to get layering to work in SB+.

I can put you back on desktop if you like, and you can try to do a clean install to get it to work.

The footer can be removed in the Page settings. Keep in mind, that many of the desktop templates also did this, and they could be removed.

The next points made by William I have added as ideas for the developers.

What type of problem are you having with layers?

Thanks for the offer and the footer info (it has to be turned off for every page?!), but if SB+ is the future I might as well get used to it - just annoying the program can't function the same way.

In image settings the send forward send back does nothing - it is the only place I could find that might work for layering. Do you have another way?

Yes, every page. When using a template from Sitebuilder Plus, that is not the case. The footer is attached to the master page and can be removed there, but on the desktop version master pages did not exist.

For the layering, what browser are you using? I will report this issue as it isn't working for me either. I was able to use Element Layer order from a right click in Google Chrome. IE 10 could not right click.. I will be doing some more testing on this to see if I can find out more.

Thanks

I'm using IE10. Okay so now you've fixed that problem for me too - the right click works just not the link in image settings. Thanks again.
