let me clarify: my original domain name through homestead was www.haldars.com . It appears that the website is now viewable at www.haldars.homestead.com. I was not able to find it till recently. Why the change? How can I go back to haldars.com?

It can be changed using your Domain Tab > Domain Settings > Advanced Settings.
The Homestead staff can help you, 800-710-1998 to get assistance. . Drew will pick up your message during business hours and help you produce a solution.

The same thing happened to me.  When I called (800-986-0958), I learned that there was a "client hold" on my domain because my contact information--especially my email address--was out of date.  I had moved and changed my email provider without updating my home address and email address in the domain section of Homestead's account. Call the help number (the one that worked for me), and they will help you get the "client hold removed.
