Why are my changes not publishing?

If you've made changes in SiteBuilder and they don't seem to be
publishing there can be several reasons, and things too look for.

The most common thing is that you are looking at a cached version of the site. On the published site, hit the f5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page. This will tell the browser to download the page again and usually will resolve the issue. If not, then look at the instructions below.

Access the File Manager by clicking on your domain name at the top of the SiteBuilder page.

Next, click View File Manager

The far right hand column will display the published status.

If any of your pages are not published, you can click on the name of
that file and click the publish button on the top menu and publish the
individual files one at a time.

If all of your pages show a green check mark and "OK" status, then you
will need to check for broken links, or clear your cookies and cash.

How to identify broken links or site error 404 message:

How to clear your cookies and cache:

If none of these ideas resolves the issue, please reply below with the site, page, and changes made so we can take a look.

When I do a search (Google search) for our Website it brings up some old wording.
I've gone into Page Name and Description on all pages but the old wording still shows up in the search as a short cut description of the web site.  How to I change the short description of our business that shows up on a web search?   Thanks Fay

Google will update when they next crawl the site. What are your search terms and the wording you wish to change?

Awww shucks Susan.Fay, If you sign uo for a free Google Webmaster Tools account, you can use the "Fetch as Google" tool whenever you like. It isn't instant, but it does ask Google to crawl the site. Usually they do it within 24 hours or so.

I have made changes, relinked pages, saved changes, and published every way I can (by page, by site).  The changes do not show up online outside of Homestead.  Inside Homestead they are correct.
I've tried Function F5, using a different browser, etc.  Still can't see the updated pages.  www.aarpchapter2700.com

Hi, my website is osteopathyandhealingcenter.com.

I tried the suggestions above for why my changes are not publishing.

Two pages so far are not publishing, the Home and the About Us page.

Thanks,
Angelika

You may need to upgrade your storage capacity. If you've exceeded your page limit or your contract storage limit, the pages will not publish. You can add incremental space for a nominal fee.

Angelika7158, your account has a 15 page limit and you have reached it. You are attempting to publish more than 15. Do you wish to upgrade or can you combine any pages? 10 more pages is $2/month

Keep in mind that the siteerror404 page should stay on the site and it does not count as a page towards your limit. Your 16th page is an html page apparently from Google. Do you know what that was for. There might be an alternative way to do something that won't cost you a page.

Hi Drew. I wasn't trying to add any new pages. I was trying to change my existing pages.
I understand about the siteerror404 page.

I spoke to my receptionist and I think you nailed it. He added a html from google onto the home page so that youtube can verify me. Since that change, I can't do any changes and publish them.

Google offers alternate methods to verify. One is by domain. As the domain provider select other. Google will give you a text record to add in your DNS records. This allows you to delete the page that was added. Or, you can upgrade the pages.

I deleted the html from my home page. I saved the page and tried to publish again, but it didn't work.

It is the number of pages that is the problem. Removing code from the homepage does not reduce the pages as the homepage is still there. I unpublished your Google html page from the file manager and everything publishes now, but you can't use publish entire site as it will again try to publish the Google page. You may add html back the homepage and publish that page and everything should be fine, except that if Google looks again then your YouTube might not be able to do what it wants, because the page is gone, but you can rectify that using the alternate method of verification I mentioned above, then you could delete the Google page from the file manager.

Ok Drew. Thanks.
I read the article about how to unpublish a page. I got it, but how can I have the dates in order. It is harder if I press ctrl & F?
Ok so from now on I can't publish the entire site anymore because the google page will try to publish, am I understanding this correctly?
I can do what we did again if I want to put something from youtube on my site, but that doesn't guarantee that google will let me keep the videos, is that correct?
I understand I can verify in different ways. I think I will not have to because under my youtube channel it still says I am verified & I tried to look at all the options in youtube under my channel to try to verify me in different ways and that option is no longer available to me.
Thanks again.

If they don't require the verification to stay on the site, then you should be good to delete it from the file manager. The file name starts with "google" and then has a bunch of junk, followed by .html. If you do that, then you can use the publish entire site again, and if the ever ask you to verify again, then you can use the alternate method.

You have a link to Events. That link goes to a page called classifieds. Should it be going to events? If so, you can update the link in the menu, or you can overwrite the classified page by opening the events page and save as classifieds.

Hey Robert6330
The plan you are currently on is limited to 25 MB of storage, which the changes you are trying to make exceeds. At this point, you have two options:
1) You can delete content from your file manager to free up space
2) I can add additional storage, 1 GB, for an additional $2/month.

Just let me know what option works best for you!

Website www.ashlandoutland.com is not publishing. Also, it's forcing me to go to www.whoek.homesteadcloud.com to view the old version. I'm not sure why this is linked to my name and not using the actual domain, maybe because I purchased the domain two days ago? I'm really perplexed with why it is not publishing. I've cleared by cache and have tried f5 to refresh, no luck. I have checked my account, and I'm paying quite a premium for this service and am quite sure I have not exceeded storage.

Really unclear how it went from publishing just fine to not publishing. It's like someone saw my name and just flipped the off switch.

Could someone assist?

Dear Elyzabeth, I am having the same problem as the above threads on my site thunderfeetdogsleds.com. I am trying to remove text on the home page that relates to offering sled dog rides. I have edited/saved/published but the changes repeatedly over the last few months have not shown. (I have refreshed the browser/cleared caches used different devices / browsers etc as per previous suggestions) Could you look into this matter for me please? Do I need to delete file content because I have exceeded my storage capacity? I look forward to a prompt reply.

Hello Theodore,

It looks like you have 7 pages on your website, but you current package only allows for 5. This would be why you are experiencing issues publishing. You would either need to remove pages or I can add additional pages for $2/month.
