The developers are still investigating this possibility. I can not provide any additional information at this time.

I appreciate the great product Homestead provides, but we need you guys to develop a solution to securing our websites with HTTPS.  You're only solution so far is to use "Cloudfare".  I read through their 17 pages of "Terms of Use", and there is no way I would trust my website to their service.  We need Homestead to make this issue a priority.  Changes in Google this summer are looming, and you guys need to step up and get a good solution for your customers.

Exactly...I bailed. Maybe it's time to switch over to a CSS website hosted elsewhere.

The other option I recommend is to rebuild your site in our newer builder, Website Builder, where we will be offering free auto-SSLs. It just isn't available on Sitebuilder sites because the software is too outdated.

Hi,
I have close to 100 sites built with Site Builder. It is virtually impossible and certainly beyond irritating that Homestead is saying we have to REBUILD our sites in WebSite Builder.. Supposedly the software on SiteBuilder is outdated. Well do whatever it takes to fix it. About a million of us built our sites in good faith and now we face this? Homestead CAN fix it if they want to bad enough. CAN'T MEANS WON'T!
It is totally ludicrous to expect a million customers to REBUILD their sites because of Homestead's incompetence ... or cutting costs by not DOING WHATEVER IS NECESSARY to correct it on your end.
Please address this ASAP
thanks

Well, Mike4351, taking a look at your account, you are not using Sitebuilder Desktop, so this topic doesn't apply to you. We cannot get Automatic SSLs on Sitebuilder Plus sites, we tried. It doesn't work. So we have provided an alternative, which is using Cloudflare. You can get any site you have a domain connected to secured with an SSL through Cloudflare. Here are the instructions.

Rebuilding your site only applies if you refuse to use Cloudflare for some reason, we are able to get automatic free SSL solutions through our Website Builder product, so that is another alternative. We never said it was the blanket solution for everyone, we understand it is not feasible for some. We are just giving you all the options we have available and it is up to you to pick which one fits your situation the best.

Hi Carmen5364,

We agree and are looking to an effective and direct way to help our Homesteaders secure their websites via SSL. Doing so helps your visitors know you mean business and will also help with ensuring your page is ranked well in search results.

Is Cloudfare the only solution still? Are you working on a direct solution for your customers?

Here in the UK, GDPR comes into force on May 25th. I need a solution and I really do need it now!!! I have been researching other web providers here and all of them offer this as standard! I really don't want to be using 3rd party sites to secure my site ( especially when I'm paying you each month ). Been with you for years, but I don't see any other option but to go somewhere else if it isn't sorted. Do we have any timescales?
When will Homestead get the HTTPS and SSL solution? Is it a month away? two weeks away? I mean, all our websites are going to get dinged by GOOGLE because of this? Please advise

I saw the article on using CloudFlare to secure sites built using Site Builder Plus and Web Site Builder, but it looks like that option isn't available for users of the desktop Site Builder program.  Is that correct?  I have had my Homestead website for about 10 years now, but will move to another platform if this isn't resolved and if the https:// doesn't work for pages that have a PayPal drop-in button.  The moment just before initiating a purchase is when people really want to know that they're on a secure site.

Hi Everyone,

We will have SSL available to Homestead users before July.  This, along with a few other enhancements should make your experience as a Homesteader more bountiful.

I have a separate question for Sheila6044.  You have been a Homesteader for 10 years, and we are incredibly honored you are with us.  What has kept you on the legacy desktop builder?  Are there missing features or functions in the newer builder products that you continue to receive from the legacy desktop builder

Cheers,
Beno

We need security before the end of May not 'before July' GDPR comes into effect in May, we can get fined if we're not secure!!

Tanith4475, you can secure your site right now, by following these instructions. It will require that you make changes and publish the entire site from Sitebuilder Plus. If you have any HTML boxes on the site, you might also need to make sure any external site used is also secure.

Using Cloudflare is not acceptable. You need to come up with a Homestead solution or I will cancel my account. Bet others do likewise.

We were told this would happen before July. This is so important and you've known about it for almost a year. Why can't you get this working? I'm begging you, please!!!

Thank you for your response.  Greatly appreciated.  If I follow these instructions, will there be any down time for my site?

There might be some down time, since it does require you to change the nameservers. It should, for the most part, be pretty seamless though.

I have followed the instructions to use Cloudflare.  When I get to the point where it says to click on "delete" to delete the current nameservers, I keep getting this message: "It appears that our partners are experiencing some technical difficulties, so we are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later. "  I have been trying all day and continue to get this message.  Please advise on what to do.

Hi pbella:

It seems you will have to call Homestead Support in the morning 1-800-710-1998 to get help with your situation.

I would recommend just leaving the 3rd nameserver blank instead of deleting it. This should work as well.

Sorry, that was my fault. I have reopened this topic. I do not have information at this time, but Todd's post is still the plan. We will post it here when we have something to report.
