Regarding the spam issues that some of you are having, I would like to communicate what is happening. If you've been tracking our email issues over the last few months, we've been going through a lot of changes.
Several weeks ago we did install some new servers as we had some significant problems with the old servers. As of right now the email platform (Zimbra), has not changed but it will be in the coming weeks. We will be switching to a new system called OpenXchange but it will take about two months minimum (maybe longer) to complete the process as we have millions of accounts to migrate. See announcement here. https://community.homestead.com/homes...
As of now, your outgoing mail is being scanned by our new spam filter and it is much more sophisticated and a bit more strict than the old filter. The filter that is currently scanning your incoming mail is a temporary system, and unfortunately not as sophisticated, and the reason that some of you are receiving an unusual amount of spam. We've discussed this issue with our email admins and the current setting appears to be the best setting to not block legitimate incoming email, and still eliminate most of the spam. Because it is more critical for our customers to not miss important/business/legitimate emails, than it is to receive some spam, it is unlikely that they will change the settings at this time. However, once all of our email accounts have been converted to the new OX email platform, all incoming and outgoing mail will then be scanned by the new filter and eliminate nearly all of the spam issues you are all having. Unfortunately it will take several weeks, maybe a couple months or longer to complete this upgrade.
At this time if you are repeatedly getting the same spam over and over the best thing you can do is to set up a keyword or email address based filter in your email program and direct those messages to your junk/trash folder.
