I created three page and they are HTTP and i soon realised i had 2 more pages one is the error404 and the other one is the HTTPS thinking maybe this is causing some of the issues with my site not getting any hits

Homestead does not support https pages. I think you must be seeing that because you are logged in to your account. It is probably a preview page and not as a visitor would see it.

I had an SEO audit done and it said it was very important for page ranking to implement the https protocol. Is this something Homestead cannot do? And if not, how important is it? This could be a show stopper for remaining with Homestead.

Hi Bob1065,

It is a very small factor in ranking at this time, and does not affect many websites at all. It will not catapult you up the rankings for having it. Https means you serve the pages encrypted via secure sockets layer(SSL) Current studies are showing that using a secure page will give the nod over another site in search results only if all other ranking factors are essentially the same. Currently around 60-70% of sites still do not use it. We do keep a watch on these types of things as Google may, indeed, decide to make it a larger factor in the future.

At this time, Homestead does not offer SSL on websites, except on checkout pages. If Google decides to put more emphasis on this then we will evaluate it again.
