I've been trying for days, and giving up each time because it hasn't been that critical, to update one of my web pages. I was actually in there maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago, no problem. But the desktop Sitebuilder won't even load up, and after poking around this forum for several hours today, I'm about to uninstall it.

Also, I got two emails on August 14th saying I need get SSL certs for my site cuz it'll be shown as unsecure via Google Chrome (no mention of any OTHER browsers) from now on until I do. So, here I am today, trying to figure out what the heck is going on!

Oh, and I have to mention, I have not had ANY emails from Homestead notifying me that there will be/has been a change to how we now build our websites. Nothing to tell me to get ready to be using the NEW Website Builder IN THE CLOUD. Nothing to warn me I have so many days until the change takes place. NOTHING. I would have LOVED some forewarning so I could have been prepped and ready to go.

That said, I'm good with working in the cloud. Makes it easier so I don't have to constantly upgrade my software. So kudos for that.

What I DON'T like is that I cannot migrate my websites seamlessly to the new builder. THAT SUCKS! Thankfully, my sites are kind of smallish and easy to recreate and I only have 2 to do. (I feel actual pain for the guy I saw that said he had over 100 sites to fix. That must be a freaking nightmare.)

The other thing...WHY is there not a BLANK template to start from? I get that lots of people dig using templates (and I actually see one I might try), but give us back the BLANK TEMPLATE, PLEASE.

I think that's it for now. But I'm sure I'll be back because I have a feeling this isn't going to go smoothly. :(

You can create a blank template from any template by removing all the existing images. Select the image and delete.

Yes, I'd discovered that. Thanks for the reply on that.

Yes this is exactly correct jewelraider. The blank template caused a lot of issues, because people who would have benefited from a template since they don't know how to format a website would choose it and then have to go back and rebuild with a template or deal with an unorganized website. We took the option away but as themieleman mentioned, everything can be deleted.

I do understand your frustration feeling like we didn't give enough warning. I am not sure if some of our emails maybe got directed to spam, or for some reason didn't reach you, but we did send numerous emails out when we upgraded to Sitebuilder Plus and 2 years ago when we launched this newest builder. Sitebuilder Desktop hasn't been supported in a long time, unfortunately. I might recommend adding homesteads email to your contacts to prevent emails from going to spam.

I know it is a lot of work to rebuild, the 2 builders are just too different to be able to migrate sites, we did look into it. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I do think you will be happy with the results of the new builder. Let me know if you have any questions.

I bought another domain since I never could get my website to work even tho it said active on cloudserv.  Now is there anyone that can give me step by step how to start rebuilding my website on the Website builder.  If I go to domains, I can see both of them there and have gotten all the emails telling me that it is approved, I just don't know how to get into website builder and how to start.  I'm so frustrated with this.  I left Yahoo after 15 yrs, now been here over 2 years and have to start all over again.  Just about ready to throw in the towel and cancel the entire thing.  Now it has my mobile all messed up too on top of that.  A 65 year old woman shouldn't have to start learning new stuff and pay more money to do it! Not very happy with Homestead at all.

I did take the counter off as well as the one that showed my cumulative visits since 2000 which were over 1M and it still comes up not secure.  I'm not getting https only http.  I don't know html so all the typing is done w/o using html.  I have some links on there but I need those to help with traffic.

So taking a look at your sitebuilder, I'm seeing a LOT of HTML boxes. About a dozen.

The elements I've outlined in purple is what I'm referring to.

You would need to go through these and make sure to update any that have http in the coding. It all has to be https

Elyzabeth....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Got the first page fixed.  Now I can fix the others.  Now think I'll have a glass of wine and totally relax, lol.  Great job and so appreciate it!
