Someone contacted me through my "Contact Us" link on the website, wanting to make a purchase. In the end, they were really trying to scam me and get money. The person said his  name was Potter Dennis and that he was an ocean engineer about to move to The Philippines and wanted to purchase a painting from me as a surprise gift for his wife for their wedding anniversary. He had a check sent to me via Federal Express, including an large extra amount in the check that he wanted me to send to his "shipper" via a money gram for the work they were doing for him. Not absolutely sure about the whole setup, I took the check to the bank and asked them if it was a real check. They put it through a machine that indicated that it was NOT a real check. This is just a warning in case you get a similar kind of setup. Beware! I will be making a police report tomorrow.

The same thing happened to me. I would not ship until the check cleared. The check was bogus.
The same thing can be done with a credit card. Do your due diligences' before shipping. If it seems to good to be true, don't ship.

Oh goodness, Colleen3375! I'm glad you decided to double check before you went through with that! It is often very difficult to spot a scam. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, so we, as well as any of our Homesteaders who read this post, can look out for this in the future.
