I cannot open attachments to emails that are sent to me. I have tried Internet Explorer and Firefox both. I am forced to forward all emails with attachments to my hotmail account in order to view them. This is very frustrating!!!!! How do I fix this????

Assuming you are using the Hmail/Zimbra web mail page, your attachements will show up like this:

You can click right on the file name, or the "Download" link.

Can you give me some details, or include screenshots of whats happening when you click both links?

Mike
When I click on either "download" or "view", I get a new window that pops up and says:

HTTP ERROR 401

Problem accessing /service/home/~/. Reason:

must authenticate

Thanks for including those details. The HTTP Error 401, indicates that there is some sort of authentication problem. First, can you verify that you are checking your email from this domain? https://mail.homesteadmail.com/zimbra/

If not, try clicking that link and testing it again.

If you still have the issue clear your cookies and cache. Here's how: https://community.homestead.com/homes...

After clearing your cache, completely shut down the web browser and try again.
The reason for this is that when you are using the web-based email client, the server first authenticates you when you originally log in, and then again, when you try to open the attachment. The 2nd authentication is failing perhaps because the email address you log in with, might be associated with other passwords for other sites. By clearing your browser history, active logins, stored passwords etc, it may fix this issue.

If the above steps do not work, then it could point to other issues. If you get the same error, let me know and we'll take the next steps.

okay, I did all that. still having the same problem. actually it seems to be getting worse. from internet explorer, when i double click on an email in my inbox, it gives a new window with this message:

------------------------------------------------------------
This page can't be displayed

•Make sure the web address https://mail3.homesteadmail.com is correct.
•Look for the page with your search engine.
•Refresh the page in a few minutes.
•Make sure TLS and SSL protocols are enabled. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Settings > Security

Fix connection problems

------------------------------------------------------------------------

It does not do that with Firefox, but I still get the error message when I attempt to download any attachments using the firefox browser.

I don't have any problem with viewing or downloads when I use my Iphone to access my homesteadmail, just with my office computer. I am still having to forward anything with attachments to my hotmail account in order to view them.

Thanks for any other assistance you can give.

The IE 10 browser will not work with the Zimbra web mail page, so continue to use the Firefox browser.

If the above steps did not work, then the next step is to troubleshoot security settings on the computer or browser.

This web page explains how to troubleshoot file downloads in firefox. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/...
