A sender policy framework (SPF) record is a type of Domain Name Service (DNS) TXT record that identifies which mail servers are permitted to send email on behalf of your domain. The purpose of an SPF record is to detect and prevent spammers from sending messages with forged From addresses on your domain. If this is so, why do I receive the warning message, "

after adding a new TXT record. Will this value adversely affect my email service?

I couldn't say whether it would effect your email, as I do not know why you are changing the TXT record or where you got the record from. Are you using a different email provider and that is the information they provided?
