I have my store all set up and ready to go, so I was about to check it by making a fake order with my customer account (ie. I'm obviously able to login to the admin section, just not to buy anything) and then cancelling it when it showed proper shipping and ability to check out. Unfortunately, before I had entered any info, it gave me this error when I tried to sign in: Your email address or password is incorrect. Please try again. If you've forgotten your sign in details, just click the 'Forgot your password?' link below. I thought perhaps my password for my customer account was wrong, because it said the same thing when I did try to sign in, but I signed into the Homestead store no problem. My customers need to be able to login if I am to switch to the new store.
Also, I originally believed that the store would automatically switch over to the new store, and when customers try to go to Homestead, it would forward to BigCommerce. Is that not the case? We never did a domain name registration.

You will have to use the Bigcommerce url to log in. Were you by any chance trying to log into the Homestead site?

No, I was on the big commerce site as a customer, trying to login to the new store with my old account.

Go ahead and try resetting the password as shown here: https://community.homestead.com/homes... and let us know if you still can not log in.

Also, for an ecommerce site, you'll definitely want to register a domain and get it pointed to the new site. The cost is included in your current plan so it won't cost any more.

Yes, I did that and was able to log in. I take it all customers will have to do this?

Your customers will have an option to check out as a guest, or if they've purchased before they'll be able to log in. But, to be clear, customers that created login's on your old store will have to create new ones on the new site. So, they will have the option to register when the go through the check-out process.

I have a customer that can't use his Homestead login information on the Big Commerce storefront. He says that when he tries to login it says that his password is incorrect. He has tried to register as a new customer, but it says his email is already in use and can't be used as a new customer. Does he have to reset his password?

And if so, please tell me how to explain to him what he should do.

Have him go to http://store-qkqe2i.mybigcommerce.com...

The user name is admin, then click the forgot password. The password reset will be sent to: hicksfamily@twlakes.net.

Thanks

Drew

Linda9586, It looks like there's some miscommunication hear. Based on your last post, if it's the customer that needs to retrieve his email, he will have to do that from your live site. If he ads a product to his cart and goes to checkout, it will give him the option to checkout as a guest, or log into an account. Next to the account login section, there is a "forgot password" link he'll have to click on.

Mike
