About a week ago, I transferred one of our domains out of Homestead. While doing this, I did not do anything with our emails, as we planned on keeping them with our package here.

I then realized this was not exactly the best idea so I wanted to just change the mail settings to point to where my domain is now hosted. When I followed the instructions given to me by my new hosting provider, I cannot do so because I cannot access the records in the advanced DNS settings. I looked around to see if there was some other place I could change the mail settings but I do not see it.

What am I doing something wrong here?

Have you checked your domain settings > advanced settings.

When I go to Domains > Domain Control > Advanced DNS Settings, I get this message:

I do not see options to go Domain Settings > Advanced Settings.

What is the domain that was transferred? I will need to switch it to a pointing domain if you want to be able to manage the DNS through Homestead.
