Currently I am paying monthly for my website (http://stores.pawsfurtreats.com/) through EIG - Homestead. I believe this started when website hosting was taken over by Big Commerce from Intuit/Homestead back in 2011. I didn't even realize that I needed to be updating info with Homestead until I got locked out of my domain in February of this year (7 years later). All these years I've done all my admin work relating to the website, ie adding products, updating the website appearance, etc. through a Big Commerce login.

What I would like to do is transfer the billing to Big Commerce, because apparently that is what is required for me to get support from Big Commerce (according to them). How do I go about doing this?  Also, can my domain be transferred to them at the same time so that everything is under one company and I don't get referred back and forth between Homestead and Big Commerce?

Thanks,
Sandy

Hi Sandy;
Please be careful.  I transferred to Big Commerce in February 2018.  I was having similar problems dealing with Homestead. When my website goes down Big Commerce tell me I need to call Homestead.  When I call Homestead they tell me I have to call Big Commerce.  What a nightmare, so I decided to transfer everything to Big Commerce.  In February I transferred over to Big Commerce, everything was great until I received an email from Big Commerce informing me they have to upgrade my account because of my sales reached $150,000.  Please remember I just transferred over in February of 2018, I received this email on March 05, 2018 important price change.  Now my website will cost me 495.98 per month.  I switched back to Homestead.  Please make sure you understand their terms before you transfer everything over to them. I love Big Commerce platform but I can not afford to pay $500.00 per month for my website.

Sandy4725, This is correct. If you prefer to get support from Bigcommerce directly, you would need to move to being billed by them, but you might see a big price increase as well.If you want to do this, let us know and we can help you out.

Also, to both of you, no Homestead agent should ever tell you to call Bigcommerce if your store is registered via a Homestead account. If you transfer it to Bigcommerce then you would go to them and not Homestead for support.

Thank you Drew.  My sales are not substantial enough that I will run into the problem mentioned above.  Big Commerce is who is hosting my website and up until Homestead locked me out on 2/19, I didn't realize (or had forgotten) I still had any ties to Homestead. Since everything I've done over the last several years with regards to my website has been through my Big Commerce admin page, then I see no reason to keep my billing with Homestead. I do need to know how the domain will be handled.  Will the domain also move to Big Commerce?  This domain will expire in May of this year and I need to know what Homestead is going to charge me annually for it going forward if it does not move to Big Commerce.

You may transfer the domain or keep it with Homestead. Our domain hosting only package is $14.99/year. and you can point to Bigcommerce. If you have checked in to the pricing based on what your store does do in sales and want to continue along this path, we can get started.

I want to stress once more that Homestead did not lock your domain. That is done by the organization that regulates domain names and all companies are required to follow their rules. I stress this because it can happen again if you transfer or not. The information must be kept current no matter what hosts has your domain. This was not an action taken by Homestead, nor a policy of Homestead's.
