The engineers are working on an issue that is affecting sites when you use the *.homestead.com URL. There has not been an issue with Sitebuilder that I have seen. What problem are you having editing?

Something is for sure not right, same problem with one site, made changes and now it is down. Every other site working fine.

I haven't tried site builder yet, but I cannot access my website using IE or Firefox, and someone else couldn't get on using Chrome. I just tried again and the index page partially loaded but was mostly blank, with only one text box showing, which was completely jumbled up, and no graphics or anything. :(

Same here, partially loading or timing out. It is not an issue with my machine/s. Have people testing from several different locations.

All browsers, makes no difference.

I have some information, and engineering will call me if they need something. There is a networking issue that is external to Homestead. We are working with partners to resolve it, but at this time any site that depends on the *.homestead.com is probably not going to come up. Using a top level domain should be ok, but some folks may see some issues.Kathy Wildman, I am not sure what happened yesterday, but it was not the same issue. This is new today and we are working to resolve it.

I have a very valuable, to me, homestead.com dependent website.  Is this going to be an ongoing concern? As a Premium customer I am allowed several "homestead.com" sites.  I only use two.  (one is very minimally used)
I have one top level domain and two subs.
I pay $24 per month for this service.  Is homestead.com going to be a problem for my account  www.CherokeeMountainBobtails.homestead.com  ?

Michelle58,

This is difficult to answer. At no time have Homestead servers been down during this. The issue has been external traffic that we are trying to keep out of the way. Some things are beyond the control of any web hosting service, but in general you should not have a problem accessing your site.
Photo of Michelle58

Michelle58

  • 258 Points 250 badge 2x thumb
I'm still trying to comprehend definitively your answer. ...
"external traffic we are trying to keep out of the way" ...
Really I don't need to access my site. except to update from time to time my product...
However I generate "much traffic"  like 500+ per week and my generated traffic needs to access my site. (my customers are the traffic, are they not?)  Why would you keep traffic away at all?

I have the same question as Michelle, what do you mean Drew?

Something is definitely still awry, my SK site will not load on the first try for some people.

Photo of Drew N

Drew N, Alum

  • 262,816 Points 100k badge 2x thumb
This is not an issue with the Homestead servers. External traffic is outside of our systems, but blocking the way between some people and some sites.  We can filter some and are looking for ways to filter more, but the cause of the issue is outside of Homestead's direct control. We are doing everything we can, and we understand it is not resolved. We will continue to do what we can until it is.
Photo of Kathy Wildman

Kathy Wildman

  • 3,278 Points 3k badge 2x thumb
I am also seeing an increased level of spam getting into my inbox. Usually has a picture instead of text. Is this what you mean by external traffic? I do not want to filter out customers.

Martin responded earlier to my yesterday comment "So did I and wrote it off as a fluke. We need this fixed soon. Thanks" so he was also having a problem. Seems like neither of us reported it then and since it was intermittent I just put up wqith it as a temporary inconvenience.

Affirmative  Kathy! This is 100% not a *homestead.com incident Drew?

I did indeed after publishing a few pages used the homestead.com review pages and there was the problem?

After that, the site I updated became unavailable or at best was rendered in a scrambled fashion.

Hope this make sense to all?

Martin

Drew!

We still have problems!

For whatever reason the initial click on my SK site returns as "site not available" etc...

I can "refresh" and the page loads...

If you, as a visitor "reclick" for lack of a better word, the site renders unavailable, please. there is something really wrong? If this were to take place on one of my sites that really makes money I would be more than unhappy!

Thanks

We are continuing to monitor this situation and do what we can to assist. Our engineers are working diligently to filter the traffic that is affecting the connection to some sites. If you still see a problem in loading your site, please post the URL you are unable to see and we shall investigate further.

Every time I try to go to our website www.mltarts.com I get the following message

Gateway Timeout

Server error - server 108.167.135.120 is unreachable at this moment.

Please retry the request or contact your administrator.

When I try again, then the site loads.

I am also having problems with one of the images loading on http://www.mltarts.com/Pocatello.html

The image that loads slowly is Pocatello_Pete_Hiett.jpg

The images of the actors all load fine.

I'm still getting the gateway timeout, but that might be due to browsing at work. I'll check when I get home. The image appears to load fine once I get past the gateway issue.

Thanks Hell?

Seems to be fixed here on my end. We are sick and tired however of every time  we have these problems. We are given the stock response: "Be sure to clear your cache out".

That is 100% unacceptable, we are tired of it.
