I am thinking of moving to a different website builder that will progressively fit our business better. Is there anything we need to do? We would like to keep our website address the same. We have been very happy with homestead for the most part, we just need to do some changes to simplify a few things for our growing business!

Check out the other's customer service/availability first. Homestead has a phone number and various service departments and resources that SBI doesn't have. I need support since I'm not a tech. So far, Im happy with Homestead above all the others that I've researched. Price is best as well. I currently have a 25 page site.

Hi Pam6320, there is a lot you can do to help transition from an old site to a newer one. First, you can begin constructing the new website before even attaching the domain to it. While you are building, you will want to make sure there is good organic content relating to your business, this includes words and text, but also images. The more relevant, the better. When you feel you are ready to switch your domain to the new site, you can go to the Domains page while you are logged into Homestead, and you can choose to associate the domain to your new website.

Todd H, does your answer assume that the new site is also through homestead? What if the new site is through a completely different provider? Does homestead offer JUST hosting if the website itself is moved to a different vendor?

Yes. You may point the domain to another web host if you like. We have a domain hosting only account which is $14.99/year. It includes domain privacy and 1 email address as well.

Drew, I need to switch to this service from my current plan. Do I need to call support to do this or can I make the change via email?

I can help you with anything the phone agents can. but don't fully understand your needs. You may call support or explain in greater detail what you are trying to do.

Thanks! So right now we have the "website gold plus" package and are paying for domain hosting, web hosting, email, and the website editing capabilities. We just had our website revamped by a professional and we have a Wordpress site that is being hosted by Flywheel. The only thing we need from Homestead is for them to continue to host our domain name. So can we downgrade our plan?

Certainly. You will need to use the Sitebuilder file manager to delete the site pages and files first. Also, you have 2 domains. One has email addresses. Do you want both domains and will you still use Homestead email?

Thank you! I deleted all the files and pages. We have never used the emails through Homestead. We have emails through our new hosting.

Can you also delete the email addresses? There are 3 created.

Drew, I made a mistake. The email addresses are through Homestead and we do need them. So it seems that if I need to upgrade my plan to keep them I might as well have kept the old plan. Sorry about that.

I see that you have the 3 email addresses still, are these the three emails you are needing to keep?

I only need the hello one. Does it make a difference?

As of right now, your Homestead account has been downgraded already. You are paying for an additional two emails, so a total of 3.
Are you wanting to keep or delete your email boxes? If you want to delete an email box, which box do you want deleted?

I originally wanted to downgrade to hosting only, but I forgot that we had email addresses. So I'm guessing that for domain hosting and email that I need to stay on my current plan
