How to assign a 404 page on an old subdomain so it stops showing in search engine search results - Right now the old subdomain though cancelled is pointing to the Homestead website home page.

Hello,

The sub domain is not present on our end and unfortunately we cannot remove it from the search results. You can create a google webmasters tools account to request this link be removed.

Thank you for your reply. I know the subdomain is no longer present on Homestead end, but it is automatically redirected to Homestead home page. As long as the search engine sees it landing on a page, it will not kill it, and it will still show in results, which is a huge problem for me. The google webmaster tool that you suggested is not possible because you cannot remove a link/domain that you do not own. I no longer own it (It no longer exist) so I cannot validate it nor hide, nor remove the subdomain (I am very familiar with Google webmaster tools that I have used for years..). The only solution is for homestead to remove the redirect to the Homestead website (404 or 410 page), so the search engines sees a broken link, and stop showing it. Would you please make this happen - Thank you.

Please make sure the Main domain stays untouched, We're only talking about cancelling the "secure.-"subdomain above . Thank you.

If this was recently removed, you may have to wait a little for the search engines to pick this up and remove it from their results.Or you can readd the sub domain, verify you own it with webmaster tools and request to be removed. Unfortunately, we cannot remove it from our end.

The subdomain was removed in November last year....still showing in search engine because there is nothing telling the search engine that the page should not be listed. Is this is the best solution you have to offer..for me to re-create a subdomain I no longer need, and put a temporary removal request. This will have to be renewed periodically...Webmaster does not allow permanent removal...- I can guess that you do not want to have a broken link floating around, but this would be the right thing to do.

Ok.Thank you, but the article removal procedure requires access to the robots.txt file that you know I cannot access/Modify in homestead!...So we are coming back to the only feasible solution of putting a 410 or 404 on the subdomain and wait for Google to pick it up...
