I received a forwarded email that a company in china is trying to register a domain that I own, the email also had an email from the registrar in china asking if there is a conflict if they register the doman. Once I own a ".com" domain, no one else can register it and or or any other extension....correct?
I want to be sure there isn't any chance of someone infringing on my .com name.
my domain is "" they are saying that they will persist in registering the domain ""
Please give me some insight on what my rights are to keep them from doing this.
Thank you,

Hi Tina,

Welcome to the Community!

Sorry for the delayed response. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do about the .cn or .au extention. They can't take away your .com (you will always own that), but China does allow for a extra extention .cn. Because it is a separate domain name, they could be available to purchase by someone else.

You will always own the .com and that is the most important domain extension in the eyes of a search engine. To be honest, have you ever even seen a or even come up in a search result? Because those are local to those countries, search engines like Google will treat them as such.

The only way to prevent this is if you went ahead and registered and In my opinion there is no reason to do that.

Hope that helps!
