Can we get an update on where things stand with correcting the issue of pages loading as the example below?  I would like to start promoting our new site but I am hesitant to start the effort when the first impression of our site looks like this.

Development is definitely aware of the loading behavior. We will provide updates as we get them.

Is it possible the highlighted wait message, "Waiting for analytics.seogears.com" has anything to do with the skeleton load issue?  I just happened to notice it in the footer of the browser.

It is contributing, but not the cause. The cause appears to be just page load speed. The more that is loading the more pronounced the skeleton page is. I have alerted the developers and the network folks to this to see if they are able to make adjustments.

You can remove the code, but it may still have the issue. I have seen it on other sites that do not have the SEO code. You would also not be able to track the SEO when removed.

I am sorry this is taking a while, but I am still working on it. (All of it)    :)

Drew, thanks for the response.  Unfortunately, removing the tracking code isn't an option. I've noticed it on all pages, even the pages that are lighter loads. The home page seems to be the most prominent but that probably because that's the one I hit most often. I just happened to notice the SEO Gears message so thought I would pass it on in the outside chance it would help. Thanks again

More information is always good, and I agree that removing the code is not an option which is why I mentioned that. I am hoping I will hear back from the network folks that they can make some adjustments. The builder isn't the only new thing. All the new builder sites are housed on new servers, so there still may be some tweaking to do for optimal performance.

The seogears code doesn't have anything to do with it. All the new sites are loading this way.

One thing that is odd....It never happens when I am using a Safari browser on my Mac but it occurs on every other browser on either Mac or PC and I've never seen it happen on a mobile device like an iPad or phone.

Can someone at Homestead please provide an update on when a solution to this problem will be available?  It's been more than two months since it was first reported. If it cannot be fixed please let me know.

David I have 2 sites that don't skeletonize and 1 that does. The one that does is the one I started right after the release of the builder. I'm rebuilding that one and it isn't doing the skeleton thing.
If you had time :) and the want to maybe set up a new site and start rebuilding your current one to see if it still does the skeleton dance.

Sue...thanks for letting me know that.  LOL time to rebuild a site that took weeks to build...I surely hope that is not the answer.

If someone on the Homestead team would like to offer their input I am all ears.  I seriously need to get this resolved soon.

I could hear you scream clear over here. It won't take as long the second time, unless you get to fiddling.

Hopefully there will be a definitive response from 'The Guys' as this is a serious issue.

P.S. On the rebuild - when I redid mine I checked it constantly to see if/when it would happen and of course it never did, but keep that in mind.

Sue...can you think of any unique elements on the original site that you have not added to the remake?  Also can I ask what browser you are using to build the new site?

The big difference on the original and the remake would be the header and the navigation. Outside of that I can't remember all of it, but they are basically the same with just minor changes of elements. Big help huh?

I use Fire Fox.

I just checked the sites again in Chrome. Neither of mine skeletonized, but yours did.
Very bizarre.

I didn't use a template on either one.

Well it looks like an html embed and would have been something you added in??? Unless it's something that Gears did, but doubt they would have expended the effort.

Do you mean this?  This is the code for the reports from SEO Gears

<!-- SEOGears --> <script type="text/javascript"> var pkBaseURL = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://analytics.seogears.com/"; : "http://analytics.seogears.com/"); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + pkBaseURL + "piwik.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); </script><script type="text/javascript"> try { var piwikTracker = Piwik.getTracker(pkBaseURL + "piwik.php", 2926); piwikTracker.trackPageView(); piwikTracker.enableLinkTracking(); } catch( err ) {} </script><noscript><p><img src="http://analytics.seogears.com/piwik.php?idsite=2926"; style="border:0" alt="" /></p></noscript> <!-- End SEOGears Tracking Code -->

This may be helpful to the Homestead Team.  This morning I opened our site using FireFox as a test.  As usual, the page opened in the skeleton format and then presented this error.

You didn't happen to check it along the way to determine when the skeleton thing happened did you?
It's so odd because some sites do it and some don't. It makes you wonder if there's an element that makes it twitchy.

Please add my concerns as well Drew, I have almost completed my replacement "websitebuilder website" but loath to redirect my domain name to it as it continually "Skeleton" loads. I appreciate your doing your best for us Drew but in my case retirement is looming and I need a professional looking, properly responsive website.

David your skeleton load seems particularly slower than others I've seen. It seems to hang up loading the SEO Gears - whether that causes the skeleton issue I don't know, but it would sure be worth investigating by removing that code to see.

Good grief no I don't have Gears on mine - you know how I feel about them! lol  As for what happens? Well, I reckon that you'll save money first of all and secondly only time will tell, but given their refusal to even share with you what it is you're being charged for I'd play wait and see. Your site is nicely SEO'd, you keep track of what's going on visitor wise and Google already has you in their system so I'd recommend you take a deep breath and wait a while.

I don't use SEO Gears reports I use Analytics, so maybe I just won't get the reports...can someone at Homestead shed some light on the question or do I need to ask SEO Gears?

Until you cancel Gears you'll probably still get their reports. Analytics is Google and nothing to do with Gears so you'll still be getting that info.

I actually picked up "reckon" from watching too many Brit shows. I liked it better than "think" and started using it and now it just comes out. And um, I remember Gunsmoke from the original days.

I am trying to contact them for an update. The code is strictly tracking code. It has nothing to do with the SEO itself other than reporting. If you leave it out though, you probably want to tell them what you have done. They will stop receiving info concerning traffic.

david2953

Drew, Thanks...I spoke with SEO Gears this morning and they said the same.  I use Analytics for reporting purposes so the only thing I will lose is the reporting provided by SEO Gears. Removal will have no effect on page ranking.

For those of you that are experiencing the same problem, it's my understanding that removing the SEO Gears code is not a long term solution and that this issue is still being worked by Homestead.
