I have been using Plus for a while now, after switching over from the desktop version. I do not like the Plus as much as the previous desktop version. What are the advantages of the Plus online version?

Although I am using Sitebuilder Desktop, and that's just a personal preference since I'm that kind of guy who is the last guy to get a microwave, or color television, or still uses Microsoft XP...that being said, I feel like the whole world is passing me by as I stubbornly stay with SB desktop versus moving on with Plus.  The templates that come with my Sitebuilder Desktop is 800 wide while the Plus templates are designed with the more modern wide screen monitors that people are using today.  (thanks Mike for letting me know that!).  Again, I think it's what you are used to or what you are comfortable with.

In addition to what Victor4384 stated, the Plus version produces updated html code for newer web browser versions. For those that choose to stay on the old desktop version, they will occasionally run into features that don't  work until they republish with the Plus version. The plus version has a few new design features mainly Master Templates, which make designing faster and helps keep your pages consistent, as well has some image editing features that allow you to crop, round corners, change color tones, add frames etc.

I've been using SiteBuilder for 2 years but switched to SB+ yesterday. I spent 12 hours making changes to my site, up till 4am. It took awhile to get the hang of it. There were some peculiarities from the transfer process. I edited every page. My home page had a background text that I couldn't figure out how to delete so I copied the whole page and pasted it to a new page renaming it HOME. Easy. I deleted the old page from my file manager. I got a 404 error when accessing my site. I got help from the community help site and implemented a solution by creating another new page and labeling it properly, index rather than HOME. I never new! It's much easier to access each webpage, much faster. The editor is cleaner and accessing features is intuitive. Accessing help is easy and effective. The map feature is slick. My experience has been satisfactory so far. I'm trying to sort out the anchor link feature that I was using, top of page link icons etc. Give it time.

themieleman  Thank you for the feedback!  Let us know if you have any questions. By now you've discovered if functions almost the exact same way except the top menu has been rearranged quite a bit.

Hi Victor4384 and themieleman,

The 2 are basically the same in their workings, but the look is quite different, so unfortunately there is a bit of a learning curve to find all the features and figure out the intricacies.

Thanks

Drew

Hey Mike, is it true that translucent png or gif images show up with a white background when using Sitebuilder Desktop while Sitebulder Plus interprets it correctly with a clear, transparent, or translucent background?

Yes,  SB+ will maintain the transparency gif or png files.

There were a few features removed from SB+ and the chat element was one of those.
