I would like to submit our SiteBuilder website for review by the community. Also, I have just started adding (keyword-rich) image alt titles, shouldn’t they be turning up in search results?

Thanks!

You should just use Wordpress. I hate to say it, but I was with Homestead for over 5 years before and brought them tons and tons of business. That was in the early 2000's. Now I design on Wordpress and the whole world has changed. Sorry Homestead, but it's true.

Thanks Gaynor, but I have been very happy with Homestead thru the many years I have been with them. I didn’t start this post as a review on Homestead but I find their SiteBuilder to be very user friendly and intuitive and customer help has always been fast and useful. Besides, I am an old dog and don’t like learning new tricks!

Ps. Gaynor... did you look at my site? Just curious!

I did yes. You have lovely looking cakes. I designed with Homestead almost 120 websites way back when. and then I switched to Wordpress, so yes. Great cakes, site doesn't do them justice.

I am working on one right now that looks similar to this. Your cakes are amazing, so please don't take offense. http://demo.cwsthemes.com/?theme=bellariawp

Anyway, I wish you much luck with your hobby. If you ever go into business, you should for sure get a logo, and move to Wordpress or Joomla.

Great looking site! You may want to size your homepage length

Thanks! That happened long ago before I had any idea what I was doing and I am afraid that if I edit the homepage now, I might mess up the rest of the site which relies heavily on the design of that page.
Any specific ideas?

Ps. You’ll see some clumsy attempts at “back-linking” done years ago. Can I safely remove all of those? Are they of any benefit at all in SEO?

You can scroll to the bottom: Website Designed by SugarBabies Cakes & Cupcakes by Nicole © 2018 at HomesteadTM Make a Website and List Your Business. From there, your can highlite empty space and select "delete". I don't know about the links you're referring to?

...they appear on the homepage just as you begin scrolling into the “empty space”.

I see. You can safely remove them. Left click the element your wanting to remove and select delete. You can safely delete the blank space as well. It can be easily added again.

I'm sitting here going through the cakes you have decorated and am so impressed! You are very talented! I especially love the sand castle cake. So cute!!

You site looks good. I agree with themieleman about the page length on the Home page. I also understand what you mean about it needing to be a certain length for your other pages with the way you have it set up. Maybe if the background elements are on each page individually and not set to show on all pages we could avoid that?

BTW it is not I who does the cakes, that’s my daughter, Nicole, as in SugarBabies Cakes & Cupcakes “by Nicole”! I am “just” the creator and maintainer of the website!

Ah, well she does a fabulous job!

In regard to the "backlinks" , I'm unfortunately not really sure what you are referring to. Backlinks are links from externals sites to your website. Nothing that would be viewable from your site. If you are referring to the HTML, I'm not sure what those are for, but if they don't have a use I would definitely get rid of them.

Also, from your original post, you asked about the image alt titles. First, Google can take up to a month to crawl sites so it won't necessarily show up yet. However, the purpose of adding those is to provide text for visitors who can't see images in their browsers. It won't garner any search result benefits. The page name and description, actual backlinks, and SEO you do on your site is what is going to help your search results. Create a Youtube channel and take some videos of the process she goes through making these creations. Link from the youtube video to your site. Things like that will help.

You can remove the construction grid: right click the background and toggle from grid to no grid.

If you do want someone to call you about SEO, what is the best time and phone number? (I'll delete the number once I copy it down so you don't get calls from anyone else)
