Over the coming months, we will be releasing some enhancements, improvements, and fixes in Sitebuilder Plus. You may have already noticed the additional fonts that have been added through Google fonts. Using Google web fonts means there is no need for your visitor to have the fonts installed on their system, thus allowing them to easily view the site as you designed.

Coming soon: The media elements will be updated to HTML5 elements. This means that they will work across all browsers, desktop and mobile, without the need for installing special plug ins.

As these items are released we will be posting them here in the community with any how tos that may be required.

We understand that some of you prefer the desktop version and we have no plans to disallow your use of the program. We will currently be offering these programming changes in Sitebuilder Plus only. We do urge you to give Sitebuilder Plus a try. It may take a little getting used to, but many people have successfully and happily made the transition.

Drew why doesn't Homestead have the Chat available anymore? That link was very important to my groups. Also why can't we install a password protected pages why isn't that implemented into the new software yet that can't be that hard to code? I hope some of the issues get fixed soon.

One more thing, in my old account it allowed me to insert paypal buttons. but in the new site software it keeps telling me to upgrade. Can't you fix that?

Did you mean to insert a chat program to your site? It was not widely used. There are some 3rd party programs out there that allow you to add this to the site via an HTML box.The issue with the Paypal telling you to upgrade is a known issue and is being fixed. Password protected pages have also been requested from the development staff.

Thanks for the update.  Will there be other additions/improvements.  I would love to be able to add a chat room for my guests to post messages to each other in real time.

Hello,

Yes, there will be more improvements in the future as we are planning to expand the platform. We have not had a request like a chat room, but I will definitely note your request. You can always add features our platform does not have built in by using 3rd party HTML code.

It is always suggested that I use 3rd party HTML code, but do not have the slightest idea on where to find one.  My website is very specific for collectors and it would be nice for them to have a chat area so that they could discuss the issues specific to the website.  From my research here, it appears that homestead used to have one.

We have not had a live chat feature with Homestead in the past. I was able to find a few websites that provide this feature including, barc.com, parachat.com, and donamix.com. I searched "html embed chat room" on Google and found those sites.

Will we be seeing these updates anytime soon? (the new platform, that offers drop-down navigation etc.)  The last we have heard is from a year ago. Thank you.

The new builder has taken the place of the majority of the planned updates to Sitebuilder Plus.
