Here are instructions to set up PayPal and add the buttons to your website.

  1. Click Websites Manager on the left, then click Edit Site to go to the editor.

  2. In the SiteBuilder toolbar, click Insert.

  3. Click More on the right, then click PayPal Button.

  4. Note: This button isn't available if you already have SimpleStore. If you have SimpleStore, the option to use PayPal is built right in.

  5. You'll be asked to set up a PayPal account or link an existing account to your SiteBuilder website. Follow the on-screen instructions or sign up for a PayPal account.

  6. If you've already setup PayPal to work with SiteBuilder, the PayPal Button setup window will appear to the right. To add a new item to sell, click Edit Products.

  7. The Product Manager window opens. Enter a product name (required), description, SKU, and price.

  8. Important: When choosing a product name, avoid using a forward slash " / " as this character redirects the PayPal button to the wrong location on the Internet.

  9. Click OK. Repeat these steps until all of your products are available online.

  10. Save and Publish your page.

Thank you.  I got the button up, but the link I added yesterday appears in the left hand corner with a drop down for choices and the button I just inserted does only one of the choices.  It seems more difficult with Homestead than it was with Intuit.  I will keep at it.

The last I heard, Homestead was bought by Intuit a few years ago.  They kept the name, but it's still an Intuit company unless things have changed.  I think trying to make the site easier to use sometimes results in making it harder--or at least different.

Hi HaveScripts,

Intuit purchased Homestead in 2007. Intuit then sold Homestead late 2012. With all of the data migrations and contractual obligations as a result of the sale, neither Sitebuilder has changed much since the Intuit days.

Now that we are setting up our e-commerce site, I need to add pay pal as another option. I do not see what the guarantee is with Paypal. Does anyone know if: 1. the funds can be withdrawn after we have shipped the item? 2. Are the funds available immediately? 3. what percentage is typical for PayPal to charge?

When I connect a PayPal account to my website - is this automatically enrolling me into SimpleStore and thus charging me for it? Or is the PayPal option something entirely separate?

I am not aware of a change like this. If you add a Paypal account, you should be able to add buttons. If you have a problem, let us know and we can figure it out.

The information given to set up your PayPal account to your website is not correct (as usual)  You do not have the option to "save all" only "save as".  It says I do not have my business PayPal account connected to my site and when I try to follow the instructions 1.  I do not have anything on the screen that says "my websites" so I cannot go forward.  You might have a non-programmer test your instructions after you write them.  I've had this problem for the 15 years I have had my websites with you!!!

Hello Gerald,

I'm not sure where you are having issues, but there is not 'my websites' section listed in the instructions. The instructions start when you log into the website at Homestead.com.

OK, from reading this again I did get onto Paypal and add my business account.  Next question though is can I not offer different amounts of one product on a button?

The buttons are very basic in nature, and can not have multiple options like that. You can if you get the third part HTML from PayPal and add it your site that way.

Could you please post a graphic of what the finished paypal thing looks like? I have the 10 and under selling feature. I am having problems of seeing where my description of my product went. I can type the info in but when I post it, the only thing displayed is the paypal button (and no description of the product)! Thank you!

I'm having the same problem, as the Paypal account info doesn't seem to be in our website anymore. The error message says (short form): Save your page, then go to the arrow under save and save all..... There is no save all. Then it says go to "my account" in the upper right hand corner. There is no such link there either. It's HUGELY frustrating, not to mention poor user friendliness. This site is supposed to be doing is making easier, and it's definitely missing the mark on that one.

Becki3751,  follow the steps on this page. You'll first need to add the PayPal account, and then when you get back into the SiteBuilder, you'll be able to add the butttons.

Hi HaveScripts,

Which site and page are you working on? You should be able to add Paypal buttons easily. You have already added your Paypal account, Exactly where are you stuck?

I'm working on a new site www.plays4pageandstage.com.  I am trying to add a different PayPal account to that.  (I have loads of buttons on the HaveScripts site.  It didn't matter which page I was on. To add the new PayPal account, the instructions said to go to Save All.  There was no arrow under my Save button, only beside it and that arrow said only Save As.  My account didn't have anything under it either.  I know I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure out what.  It's not adding the buttons that's a problem; it's getting the new PayPal account connected.  Also, can you have more than one PayPal account connected with a Website?  If not, how do you change them?

Thanks for getting back so quickly.

Jean

Sorry HaveScripts

In your Homestead account, go to websites manager. Select the site, then under the Edit site, click on more. Then manage Paypal.

Can you point me to where you found the instructions you are following?

Thanks

Oh!  I think that worked--it added the email of my PayPal account, in any case.  I had been trying to sync PayPal after I had clicked on Edit and I was in the site itself.  That's where I got the instructions from the menu when I clicked on the Insert link and went to PayPal.  Thanks.

Alternately, you can add a button that you make at the paypal website and add it using the html option on sitebuilder.

Mike F., Alum

  • 184,678 Points 100k badge 2x thumb
Correct danielle0628,   It is also important to know that if you create your buttons using the html code from PayPal, you can create more sophisticated functionality. However if you use the buttons created in SiteBuilder the system holds your products in a database where they can be saved if you need to use them multiple times or remove, then add back on at a later time. Both systems work well.

The only downside to that is I couldn't find a way to enter a quantity.  So for me, I make my products one at a time, and each one is unique.  I can't be selling more than one, so I really need that 'sold-out' option that paypal offers.

Remember, those instructions only work if you have already established and synced your PayPal account with Homestead.  To do that, Start below the edit site link and go to "more" then to the PayPal prompt.  I learned this yesterday--thanks Drew.  And I had asked the same question as Roseann1197.  (I was asking the wrong question.)

These instructions should be correct, but you first need to attach your Paypal account,k wich you do not do in Sitebuilder. Please check this topic for adding/changing your Paypal account.

Could someone please confirm for me that using the standard paypal button functionality embedded in Sitebuilder won't allow you to manually edit the script of the button and that the only way to do this with a paypal button would be to create the html on paypal's site or another service?  I'd ideally like the change the buttons I already have in Sitebuilder if I can and the changes I need to make are more complicated that the simple edit options available.  Thank you,

Yes, this is correct. SiteBuilder does not allow for advanced modification of the buttons outside of what can be changed in the properties window when clicking on the button. If you need anything special or customized, you would need to get 3rd party HTML driven PayPal code.

I would simply like to have a Paypal style button and not something that looks like my aunty did for me.
OK, I can create Paypal buttons on the Paypal website but do they integrate with the Homestead system.
I ask because I've already set everything up in Homestead and don't want to make things more complicated than they need to be.
