UPDATE 10/16/2015: It appears that most of the server related issues have been resolved and are cleared up. We are still monitoring to make sure nothing else causes more disruption. The website files do need to be resynchronized with the server, so choosing Local File would be ideal to bypass this. Once you have clicked and selected for all of the files on your website, click your website name at the top right corner, click File Manager, and click the Refresh button found towards the top.
We understand smaller websites are easier to get through this if you are asked to choose either Local or Published copy, but if you do have a large website and are having issues getting beyond this screen please continue to post them here with your domain name. Thank you everyone for your diligent patience.

UPDATE 10/15/2015: Into the night we did experience more server related issues that was causing the issues to start happening again. It does seem right now that a lot of these problems are clearing up again, but our staff is monitoring closely. While this is going on, we are asking if you still having issues with Sitebuilder to post the issues here so we can make sure we are not missing anything.

UPDATE 10/14/2015:
At this moment, it does appear that most of the issues with loading Sitebuilder Plus have cleared up. This includes broken images that were displayed inside, any server errors, or even loading Sitebuilder Plus.

If the Sitebuilder asks you to load the local or published copy, selecting Local copy would be ideal unless you specifically wish to load what is currently published.

If you run into any other problems, please post them here so we can take a look and make sure all issues are in fact cleared up.

Again, we extremely appreciate everyone's patience through this.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Sitebuilder Plus Issues 10/13/2015.

UPDATE 10/14/2015: At this time we are still aware and working to have most of the Sitebuilder Plus issues resolved. When loading into Sitebuilder, it is important to know you will be prompted to choose Local or Published copy. Choosing local copy will load any recent changes you have made with the site, and choosing Published copy will load what is currently published.

Unfortunately, you will be prompted to load every file with the website with either these options. Once you are in the Sitebuilder, you should be able to start making edits and are able to publish changes. However, we are still investigating the issue with Sitebuilder Plus loading broken images. Despite the images not loading in Sitebuilder Plus, published changes will display the picture as intended. If you do encounter a server error, please wait a few minutes and try again.

Our developers are still working diligently to have these issues resolved, and again, do appreciate your patience.

10/13/2015
We are currently in the process of implementing an update with Homestead. During this period, you may experience issues with Sitebuilder. As we are aware of these issues, we do ask and thank you for your patience during this time.

Anyone have a time frame? Last Xmas I lost over a full week of sales. Here is a redux again, no notice and just GONE!. Once upon a time Homestead was awesome. Now everything is sketchy. Man, people must be jumping ship in droves! Such BS with these outages I have lost nearly a month.. will my account be credited? NOPE! Cant reach anyone, cant open my site etc. The "homestead boss" needs to read some these, such poor service. HOMESTEAD - I am disappoint!

Two things: 1) Be honest with your customers and let us know when to expect fully-restored functionality. (and if the answer is "we don't know" then restore the PREVIOUS functionality).   2) Do not expect cumbersome work-arounds from a professional client or customer such as click "published version" for each and every image you've spent years collecting and configuring.   Please fix Site Builder.

I am already transferring domains to GoDaddy as I write this. Learning WordPress was one of the best things I've done this year. I've been through this too many times, and lost too much money to stay with this unreliable system. After over 10 years with Homestead, patience is wearing thin. If I ever get in, I will be downloading all my files to reclaim the years of work I have put into my websites. We just went through another update of the email system at Homestead, and had business massively disrupted at that time.

At bare minimum, there should be some kind of banner across the login pages that says they are doing updates and that clients will likely experience difficulties. I've wasted too much time this time around trying to fix unfixable problems. How about some advance warning so we can save our files before losing our work to some update?

Think about this: Do you own or rent your website? If you cannot pack up your files and move to another host, you are a renter, and do not own your website. I would rather build something I own, than build a perpetual income stream for an absentee landlord.

There was a period this morning where the Sitebuilder was having issues, but our engineers have been working to have these issues resolved. At this moment, it does appear that larger websites do take a few moments longer to load, however it does seem Sitebuilder is loading at this moment.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing from editing your website, we will definitely keep more updates posted here.
I cant have either load and the local sends an error 500  I must change things today any updates

Like most others here, I get the "choose local or published" and I have thousands of files to go thrpugh. There is NO way I can sit there and click them all. WHEN will this be fixed? It's not like Site Builder is lightning fast to begin with, but now we are dead in the water. I haven't been able to log into Site Builder in three days now.

We are seeing more and more customers load into their Sitebuilder, but it does seem that the larger websites are taking a while longer to load, most likely due to the volume of traffic with the server. We are monitoring everything and doing the best we can do ensure everyone can load their Sitebuilder and make their needed changes.

We sincerely appreciate everyone's patience, and we will still be posting updates here as they come in.

I need to edit my website! Please get this fixed. We pay too much for our website service to be having this much problem with it. Unless this gets fixed soon I will have to switch to a different website designer. This makes several times that this has occurred. I have been trying to update my website for the past few days but keep getting issues with synchronising. Obviously there is a problem, but as usual there is no communication from Homestead. Things do go wrong from time to time. However, good communication to your customers should be paramount. Now thinking of taking my business elsewhere.

I have several sites in limbo for the last four days. Been waiting for you to get your act together. Now I need attention before the weekend and I have no intention of clicking endlessly on local or published files.
My main sites in jeopardy are http://www.webstersacademy.com and http://www.excellentresources.net
I am in the process of moving my other sites as fast as I can off of Homestead and onto self-hosted WordPress sites. These are sure to follow.
Other sites include:

Todd H:  You must be the only one at Homestead working. I hope you aren't planning  on crossing the street in front of  a beer truck any time soon. Meanwhile - this is day 5 for me to not be able to edit my site.  Here are some specifics:
Like others, I immediately go to the "Synchronize File" sub-screen. I have three choices: Download Published Copy, Keep Local Copy or X. Each of these selections including X simply steps to the next file to be synchronized. There are hundreds of these and I won't step through them. My time is better spent re-designing the site elsewhere if that's my only choice. But I digress. You can also select View Published (which gives me an image of the file) or View Local (which gives me "500 Internal server error.").  The ONLY WAY OUT OF THIS INFINITE LOOP is to x-out of the server window, which causes a logout from Homestead. There really should be a better way to abort this screwed situation. Like I said, you are so far the only one to respond to anyone here, but it's simply not good enough. Escalate to your boss's boss immediately or you will lose many many customers. I've been with Homestead for 10 years but this may easily be my last if this is not fixed.

I ONLY have 13, 040 files in 270 folders.
Pardon me while I kill 30 mouse buttons, have permanent disability from repetitive motion clicking, and spend the next week staring at my screen praying I live to see this update resolved.
There MUST be a bulk selection option for those who have large numbers of files.
13,000 clicks is not reasonable.

Hi,
First time on this forum so bear with me. My issue is that Sitebuilder takes 14 minutes to open with Windows 10. Yes, 14 minutes. I have a large web site but when I was running it on Vista, it took less than a minute to open. I tried troubleshooting the compatibility to both Vista and XP which we once had but neither sped up opening the program much at all. (Okay, 12 minutes instead of 14, but still...)
Any suggestions would be welcome....

We've noticed that choosing the local files will get it through, and despite how redundant it has been, it's cleared things up with the server making sure it is choosing the right files. I have a macro built that helps me click this a million plus times.

Can you fix mine? This is taking too much of my time!

Todd:

The fix worked.  But when I logged out and back in, It started asking to approve each photo again.  Whatever you did, it is only a temporary fix.  If you log out (actually I completely closed my IE) and back in the same problem returns.

Thanks! Got it. I don't have much built into my site yet...so it only took me a few presses of the button. Good Luck to you Township of Ocean NJ from Township of Harmar PA.

This is Sitebuilder syncing the files, you may choose either Local or Published copies. The local will load the files that were last left off in Sitebuilder, and choosing published will pull the files from the published website in case they may be slightly different.

Every time you log in it asks you to choose "Local" or "Published". I have been a customer for 15 years and have hundreds and hundreds of pages/files/jpegs. I can't be expected to keep doing this. And you can't even pres "enter" to choose - you have to click with a mouse only! Ridiculously backward technology. Every time I log in I get the same thing. You must get rid of this error, not expect us all to work around it.

Hello FCDEFELICE1979,
This was an early issue with the Sitebuilder problem, but should be resolved. Are you able to load and work on your site without any of these problems?

Yeah, that only works if you have like 20 pictures on your site.  If you have any serious number of pictures, forget about it.  The site times out long before you get to the end

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled SO I wake up this morning, turn on Sitebuilder and.....

1) The first thing that pops up is "Oops! Your request failed due to a network or server issue. Try again,
and if it still doesn't work, call us at: 1-800-710-1998.(Error Code:
0x28)" before the page loads up
2) Half the pictures on the page are not there - publish and they are there - but not on Sitebuilder.

SO I have concluded the following:

A. Gremlins got into the system overnight and undid the "fixes" we were told about late yesterday
B. No fixes were permanently done before the debugging staff had to knock off, buy a case of Black Label and watch the Royals-Astros
C. I should just throw in the towel and look for a new site to work with.

Yes, I am still have problems. I updated my website several days ago. So I saved the changes to my home (index) and resources pages and then I planned to go back and update before sending out my newsletter [which has been delayed because of this issue.]

Currently, I can log onto the website now without have the synced file issue. Once I am into Site Builder, I can not see my changes only in the preview mode. When I go to publish the changes they do not load and therefore I am still seeing my pages without the updates/changes. For reference here are the links:

Home/Index Page

When I publish this is what I am getting - this information has not been changed to reflect the changes on the preview screen
http://pregnancyconcepts.homestead.com/index.html?_=1444940044799

This is what is on the preview screen (which is the new updated version of the home/index page - http://pregnancyconcepts.homestead.com/~local/~Preview/index.html?_=1444940835858 - this is the information that should be published

Resources Page

When I publish this is what I am getting - this information has not been changed to reflect the changes on the preview screen
http://pregnancyconcepts.homestead.com/Resources.html?_=1444941415782

This is what is on the preview page (which is the new update version of the resources page - http://pregnancyconcepts.homestead.com/~local/~Preview/Resources.html?_=1444941209708 - this is the information that should be published.

Good morning Todd,

I am still having the same issue. In fact, this morning when I logged in, I was hoping that everything would have been fixed, What I discovered was that I had to sync my files again. After going through that process, I then realized that my site was still not fixed. I am still on hold with sending out my newsletter because my site contains old content. When will this matter be fixed? I am literally on hold with updating my content and days are going by and business is being lost.

Will Homestead prorate customers payments so that we are paying for only the days where our websites are functionally working?

This is a nightmare for businesses. As yes, I do think that we [the customers] appreciate you posting an update on the status of the issue. We [the customers] would appreciate it more if our websites were working properly and if the technical staff could quickly fix our issues. The delay [or the amount of time this taking] in fixing the problem kind of seems like the technical staff at Homestead has no clue of what is going on nor how to fix the problem. Just think of all of the business Homestead would lose if there was a technical problem with their website and how outraged this company would be...Homestead customers are feeling that way now. We really need to have this matter fixed with more urgency!

Please refer to the email thread above this message that contains information on where I am having problems with my website. You [or someone else on the technical team] can certainly contact me if you need additional information to help you with fixing my problem.

I would really like these issues fixed so that I can send out my newsletter sometime this weekend. I am hoping that we [the customers] do not have to go into next week experiencing these same problems. Thanks

I have not been able to log in for 4 days straight. I have used 4 different browsers and different computers.  I sit for 15 minutes and I get an error message saying contact customer support.  I have contacted customer service only to be told the don't know and its being worked on.  Earlier today I was told it was resolved, NO it's not. I still can't use my website or get it to upload without getting error messages. I have used, Firefox, Chrome, Windows 10 and Safari.  Same thing on all 4.
