Hello all,

We are currently aware of the issue where you get a warning popup in Sitebuilder Desktop asking about deleting your local files because your published files are deleted. We are working to get this resolved, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Please see below the updated fix for the Sitebuilder desktop:

*When the popup comes up asking if you want to delete or not, close out of Sitebuilder completely. You do not have to select any option or go through this for all your files if the steps below are done.

Step 1. We need to refresh the files on our side. Please respond to this post so I can refresh your files for you. This updates our file list manually so the files will sync properly.

Step 2. Close out of Sitebuilder completely and navigate to your website files stored on your computer. In your site file the "~localFileCache.xml" needs to be deleted.

To locate your site files:

Windows XP go to
C:\Program Files\Homestead\SiteBuilder\data\user\Sites.

Windows Vista and Windows 7, Windows 8 go to C:\ProgramData\Homestead\SiteBuilder\data\user\Sites. To learn how to find this folder, read Show hidden folders in Windows.

After this open up Sitebuilder and it should be fine. You will need delete the file on each computer you use Stirebuilder Desktop on.

Go ahead and try to load it again. It came up for me. You can remove the local copy if needed. That file will recreate itself with publishing.

So does this procedure work?? I previously did start manually clicking every file but didn't finish or I am guessing get through 25% of my pics .

So should I try the refresh?

I believe only my mapleleafmopars site is infected...I am scared to open up the others!

Let me know,

Dave

dave3007,

It works! You can close out Sitebuilder, and I will refresh your files for sites. After I'm done, I'll post that it's complete and then you just have to delete the local file as outlines in the article above.

Ok it is closed out, please try the refresh.

Is there a clue why the happened? It says all my pics were modified on Jan 24th...wasn't me.

You files have been refreshed. You should be good to delete the file and log in.

The reason this happened is the files for one of our servers didn't sync right with the Sitebuilder Download files a few nights ago.

I opened Sitebuilder this morning only to have it say that my local files had been deleted. I had to go through each one individually to say "don't delete." Now it says that none of my files have been uploaded. Now I am getting this error message on many of my pages: Sorry, services are temporarily unavailable. Homestead services have been temporarily interrupted. We would like to assure you that we are making every effort to restore service as quickly as possible. We know how much this inconveniences you and very much appreciate your patience." I waited on hold for 30 minutes and tried the chat unsuccessfully. Help!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Unable to create the directory files.

I have been experiencing similar problems to everyone else with messages saying files have been deleted. I have systematically clicked the "don't delete" option, but when I try and publish my updated pages, I keep receiving the warning message: "Upload Error - Unable to create the directory files - If you have any questions, please contact Customer Support."

This is happening on all of my websites.

My question is, what does this message mean exactly?

Thank you.

The top suggestion above, suggesting to delete the *****cache.xml file ((You can also just rename it to a .xm_ file) will get your desktop publisher to open without hitting all the buttons....the publisher will not think that the offsite files have been deleted.

But you then have to publish all the files again! Hitting publish all files does not really work, it only publishes some of them and you have to do it several times. (The program seems to have a limit on how many files it will publish, depending upon its mood!)

You can go to file manager, select them all, and hit Upload and that should work, but a pain if you have a great many files like I do. (And, on several websites! I have to do this 7 times)

This is pitiful service from a company owned by someone as reputable as Intuit, which I believe bought Homestead years ago.

I spent 45 minutes on "chat" with a guy who "solved" the problem for me yesterday by restoring all my files to the "new site they are migrating the service to".....but it seems that only worked yesterday.

Today, I, like the rest of you, find I should hit the button that says Do NOt Delete files. Until I came here and saw the .xml suggestion. That is getting me working for now. Who can tell what tomorrow may bring.

But I say again...nothing short of PITIFUL service to do this to users. Migration should have happened at 2AM on a weekend. This is a sorry state of affairs. I am hoping this only happens once in my lifetime.

(OH, and I am not really sure that the Homestead techs are that "on top" of things at times)

I sincerely doubt that I will get a reason for this to happening to me!
I really don't like logging on to the website I built and have to confirm all of my files in the whole website!!! This is mind boggling to me. This should not have happened at all!! The website Froze and I now I may have more pictures to confirm when I log back on. This is a NightMare!!!!
Good thing I can still edit this with more information, not that it will do any good.
I logged back on.......Still to confirm many more files before I confirmed all of them!!!!
The biggest File I had to confirm was a Whole Darn Page of the website!!
