Can you provide a description of your business?
We are an Australian not for profit organization that provides opportunities for individuals from different cultures to perform and engage in cross cultural musical exchanges and participate in altruistic life-changing projects. Our chosen cause is to help educate vulnerable children in Africa.
How did you get started in this business?
One day seven years ago, I was overcome with an undeniable urge to gather Australian community choir members to travel to Africa to work alongside The African Children's Choir in the slums of Uganda. Since then we have had 6 teams totaling over 200 volunteers travel to Uganda. We have also hosted The African Children's Choir tours to Australia four times, raising funds for their education.
How do you market your business?
Emails to community choirs, Facebook, website and word of mouth.
How has technology, such as computers and the internet, impacted on how you conduct business?
It would be impossible to conduct our business, as much of it is regularly communicating with Uganda. Without FB messenger or Whats App it would be extremely difficult to achieve what we have.
How important is social media to your business?
Hugely important. Our followers track our progress on tour and have the opportunity to see where their donations end up.
