Try using a neutral background. Your text is not legible because there's not enough contrast. Us white background and black lettering for best results. Less is more. Fancy color fonts are harder to read. Strong backgrounds are distracting. White text on dark backgrounds in difficult to read too. Treat your webpage like decorating a room. Use a neutral pallet and use color and picture to accent content. Experiment with colors. You can change them easily, you can easily change them back. It can be changed intermittently. Play with it and see how you feel. Use social media to build up your site visit. Ask your friends to logon and help with your organic growth. Get the Homestead search package if you've not already purchased it. I think it's $14.99 per month. Change you menu link color. You can't read red text on the mauve background. Same theme suggestion on all content.

Hi Shirley,

I like the look of your site. I agree though that the stark white text would look better if it was toned down a bit and also the text block on your Home page should be that same color.

I'm not sure you really give enough information on the Home page as to what your site is about to satisfy visitors or the Search Engines. You might consider increasing the word count there making sure to work in the key words/phrases you are hoping to be found for. Perhaps expand on the Health Coach aspect if that is the main focus of the site and/or the product promotion/sales rep aspect or whatever it is. I couldn't quite figure it out.

I felt that the 'shops' took away from the professional aspect of the site. Obviously you are trying to monetize the site, but I would suggest staying on track with products that embody the health message.

Your titles need to be descriptive of the page content. Simply using Product or Home or About Me does not give the Search Engines any information to index your site. Titles and descriptions are very important in the whole SEO game.

Lastly I'd recommend you delete the 'canned' copyright which is a freebie ad for Homestead and create your own using plain text. To do that go to Page Settings - Click Background, Links, Footer - Click Edit Footer - uncheck the Display Copyright Info box and the Copyright box if it's checked.

Best of luck!

HI Alan, Now it could be my browser "firefox" but the website looked the size of a standard envelope and very busy. I can see you repair computers but does it fill the screen of your PC? if your does then I cant really comment but if not you could have another look.

Alan the concept is good, but it's missing the mark on several levels. Suggest you download the Website Design Guide and go through it and make the applicable changes then come back and ask for another review.

Print is too small. It's a collage. Clean it up so I can read it. Maybe you need to call a consultant. Choose a font that's easy to read and contrast in color to more neutral background.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh where to start. Love the picture you are using, but you're falling flat on all levels if your goal with the site is to have the Search Engines pick it up, index it and put it out there. I hope that doesn't seem harsh, but there are just certain things that a webmaster needs to do in order to succeed on the web. Google alone has over 200 items it uses to index sites.

Suggest you use this DESIGN GUIDE and rethink your approach. Be sure to come back after you've made changes so we can take another look.

I am not a fan of dark backgrounds. You cannot read the linked menu item when the text changes to red on the black background, etc. Try switching it up, a neutral background with black text. Experiment with this model. You can change it easily until you have a handle on design. Less is more. Try the room decor scenario. If this was your living room, would you decorated it like this?

For some reason the site doesn't center on my monitor. Check you page width and position. I'd review your font color selection. Some colors are difficult to read on the black background. You may want to reconsider your background color. Black is dramatic but not very text friendly.

I noticed the text on each page is different, the text needs to be the same on each page and use a text that is easily readable not bold. Good luck.

:) I figured that is what you meant, but wanted to clarify. And if you are just getting started with the new builder it will indeed require a whole lot of concentration and some antacids!

I wondered when he said text!  I don't want the same text on all the pages.  Haha  So I also need to have the same font?  Why is that?

You can certainly use different fonts throughout the site, but it's a good idea to keep your main text the same font and then switch up the fonts on the side bars or whatever. But sticking to just two or three is best. It gives the site a more put together look.

The black font is difficult to read on the maroon background. A black background may be dramatic but limits your font color choices. I suggest you switch it up to a white background and black fonts. Also, when you box text, you'll want to add padding.
