Looks nice. You're in Woodland. I'm not nuts about the orange font, particularly on the home page, they're a little harder to read. I'm in Napa.

Thank you so much @themieleman. I will play around with the color a bit. Napa is beautiful.

Cheers ;-)

Very nice website!

I would try a different font/color for the navigation links (the first aid link has a lot of characters which run into the orange background).

Also, I would find a higher quality image for the American Red Cross Authorized Provider (if you have trouble finding one, just find a high quality image of the Red Cross logo and add your own text using a photo shop program).

Unfortunately, the site is not mobile-friendly (which is probably reason enough to find a better site builder):

Here's how you can create a free mobile-friendly site through Homestead:

https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/how_can_i_make_my_website_mobile_friendly

It will have ads at the top and bottom of each page for Dudamobile, and you are limited to 10 pages, but at least it will make your domain name mobile-friendly.  You probably won't like how the mobile pages will look after it automatically converts your present site into a mobile site, but the Dudamobile editor allows you to edit the mobile pages to make them look the way you want them to look.  I found that editor to be frustratingly difficult to use, but after lots of trial and error, I was able to put something together that works.

Here's some more info about creating a mobile-friendly site:

https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/google-changes-and-mobile-websites

Good luck!

Really like your and appreciate what you are doing!  Most of the things that I saw have already been addressed, might want to make the font a little larger on your bios, as they are important and impressive.....and of course the graphic for the Red Cross needs updating, but keep up the good work and best of luck with all of your endeavors....Blessings Be!

Aww thanks @James9941

I've always wanted to do all three of these things but didn't know how to package them together. Finally I have a way to do what feels good to me and gives me so much freedom.

Yes, I am still trying to figure out how to make the font bigger without compromising the mobile friendly-ness. (I totally made that word up just now) but you get what I'm saying.

And yes, the Red Cross logo . Ugh. I so appreciate your input,

Cheers:-)

I think your site is terrific.... the only thing is that if I were interested, I don't know if you're in my area. There's a phone number that looks long distance, so I'm thinking it's not worth my while calling. Put the areas that you are serving. Or put that you are willing to travel or something along that line so that they know it's worth their time to even email.

Great looking site though...

Hi @JoAnne2150,

Thank you for your suggestion. I guess I hadn't considered clients outside of Yolo County.

In the event that someone from another county contacted me to teach a class I would be happy to travel to them but then I would loose money from the expense of traveling.

This is a tough one. My initial thought is to just put that I serve Yolo County only but I really wouldn't mind teaching in other counties, I'm just worried about the distance and travel part.

Great suggestion. I will work on how to expand my services in a way that doesn't cost me money. Maybe include the Greater Sacramento Area and that's it.

Cheers:-)

Don't stretch yourself too thin... I was just pointing out that people from all over the world would be looking at your site, but would have no idea that you were in Yolo County or what state you're in. I'd be interested if you were in the Houston area, just because you have a good site. You should put near your phone number: serving Yolo County in whatever your state is....
Good luck!

If it cost you money, it must cost the customer money. If the customer wants you to come to them, they pay travel, lodging, per diem, planning costs, wages and fees. You must charge your customer for your services.

Hmmm, ok. I guess I also didn't consider someone being willing to pay for me to travel to them. That would be amazing. I'd be willing to travel to anywhere if I knew I'd be reimbursed for my expenses .

If your services are not available in your prospect's community, they'll expect to pay a premium to bring you in. If there's travel time and overnight time, you can expect payment for time allocated to supply the services requested.

I agree with JoAnne. Post your business location and service area clearly.

Bold face fonts can be an obstruction for search engines. I'd suggest you eliminate bold face for the body of text. Bold fonts are also more difficult to read. Use bold for titles and classifications.

Done! What about now?

I think the paragraph on the home page does look better without the bold text.  I don't particularly like the MS Serif font -- the curves are really jagged (thanks a lot Homestead).  Perhaps the Georgia font would be smoother.

Homestead has a very limited selection of fonts, and some of them really look awful.  If you are having trouble finding a font that you are happy with, there is a way to add Google fonts to your website (search this forum for Google fonts).

I thought the bold text that you had for "Serving Yolo County" looked nice, but it looks good now, too.

I don't like the underline on the navigation links (it makes it harder to read).

Overall, you have a very nice website, teacher4282!

I think it's reading much better.
Punctuate the phone number at the top of each page: 5307232873
Maybe change bold font on "About The Gift of Family".

I like what you did with the text boxes and images in the center of the page.  I do think though that the orange is a bit too bright.  I feel it takes away from the center portion which is what you want visitors to read.  I'm sure that color is just subjective but that was my first thought.  I did not read anything else on the page because the orange was distracting.  Just my thoughts...............

You asked for it, ha. You have the location really well and in a good spot: Serving Yolo County & The Greater Sacramento Area, but it doesn't have to be so big. It just has to be there. Also, what's with those numbers? Is that supposed to be a phone number? If so, it needs dashes and no underline.

I think it's great!!!
