Went back to the image button, added link and the pop-up below is what happens when I click on the FB button. If I click Yes on that pop-up then it goes to the link. I do have open in a new window checked on the editor - tried unchecking it with the same results. So what stupid thing am I doing now? :)

The pop up is something I have not yet decided if I like. It will do that regardless of have the new tab checked, but only from preview. It is reminding you that you are in the editor and not live. When you publish, that message will not appear. As I said, I still am not sure about that one.

My vote on that pop-up is make it go bye-bye.
In the image below it shows the two different buttons. Top one is the one I imported and linked and where that pop-up appears.
The second one (the round button) is from the insert widget for the social media buttons. (I don't use a template). Click on it and the little black edit bar appears, but when I click on link nothing happens. BUT I clicked on the Manage Social Icons in the editor and was able to insert the URL. It worked in preview (except for that funky pop-up).
So, I think I'm fixed as far as the FB thing goes, but you are more than welcome to go in and poke around if you want.

'We have looked a little bit closer into the code, and while it appears the code may seem correct, it appears we may be running into some code incompatibility with the current builder. We will certainly provide the code to our development so they can look at the behavior of how the HTML is responding to your website, but we cannot guarantee we will find a resolution for the 3rd party coding. For now, if it is possible to request simpler HTML for these features, it may assist with the actual functionality of the HTML code, but again, we cannot guarantee it will work as intended.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.'I then replied with this comment -
'This is a major problem if in fact it is a compatibility issue with your new builder because it seems to me that there will be many more customers than just myself, who’s html snippets don’t work properly when published either – I can’t be the only one.
I’ve been a Homestead customer for years. I’ve asked repeatedly, as I know many others have, for software that has drop-down menu capabilities, and I was extremely excited to begin using it. I’m willing to wait, but it seems to me that there must be a solution to this. Please let me know if there are any further developments for at this point in time, it’s a waste of my time to continue building out my pages.Thank you for taking the time to read this.'
Is there anyone in the community who has had similar issues? And if so did you come to any resolution or work-around.

I spoke with a very nice and helpful tech person yesterday over the phone and she understood and duplicated the issue with me. She “passed it on” to the developers to address the issue.
On my desktop Sitebuilder site, everything works fine and instantaneously with the Google translate.
After I load the code and the HTML on the new builder, when you click on a language to translate, it says “translation in progress 0%” and never changes from that. That has never, ever happened on the desktop Sitebuiulder.
Just to verify, (and everything was done with the tech yesterday) for the new builder, this “meta code,” is placed in the Site Meta Tags on the advanced settings:
<meta name="google-translate-customization" content="c451f2d55798342-1d17094a7208b43a-gdff28df884e7ad01-17"></meta>
Then, this HTML Widget code is place on every page where you want the Google Translate to be:
<div id="google_translate_element"></div><script type="text/javascript">
function googleTranslateElementInit() {
new google.translate.TranslateElement({pageLanguage: 'en'}, 'google_translate_element');
}
</script><script type="text/javascript" src="//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementInit"></script>
This is the way it’s done on the Sitebuilder with no problems. Like I said, the tech verified and duplicated the issue on their end and “passed it on.”

As you've read, another customer - Ken - experienced the same thing I did - his Google Translate code didn't publish properly. Mine didn't either but I never reported that instance in my first post - because I figured I could live without the translate widget, but I couldn't live without my Get Response newsletter html or my View Cart html code.
I knew I couldn't possibly be the only customer who was experiencing this same result. There is nothing wrong with the html code for as Ken stated, it works perfectly when using the old desk top Sitebuilder, or your online Sitebuilder.
I really hope something can be done about this as it's impossible to use the newest SiteBuilder without the html working like it's supposed to.
