If i log into the site and try and update via sitebuilder via the website, it says all my local images and published images have changed.    It won't let me access my site, it says there is a proxy error.

When I use the shortcut on my desktop nothing happens.

If I download sitebuilder via homestead, and i click on the exe nothing happens after I am asked if I would like to allow this app to make changes to my device.

Help.  I need to get into my site.   We have almost disappeared from search engines I have to evaluate what is going on, and i can't get in to the site to look.

It is likely that the old Sitebuilder Desktop you are trying to use is now completely incompatible with Windows 10.  That is a really old program.  You are probably going to have to rebuild with the cloud-based Website Builder.  Before you panic-I will tell you that it's easier to use, looks better than what you have now and the SEO parts aren't hard (just be sure you read up on the new search "rules" to help you rise in the searches.  Probably the reason your rankings are going down are because your site is still using the "old way" for keywords and tags.  If you can't get into Sitebuilder anymore, perhaps the tech team at Homestead can figure out how to get those downloaded and saved somewhere for you.  You will be able to cut and paste text and stuff just from the site itself.  Other than figuring out the downloading of the files part, I would be happy to help walk you through getting your remodeled site started on Website Builder. picturethismultimedia@comcast.net

It won't let me use SiteBuiilder plus either, when I'm logged in,  I get a synchronize file message that my local and published copy of files are different.  It asks which I would like to keep but when i got to view the file i get an error message: This site can’t be reached

meshbelt.com refused to connect.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I'm not sure what version to keep.  I assume I have to do this for all files?

Hello MaryEllen9150

Lynn is correct that the desktop builder is very old and outdated, not compatible with Windows 10 and not really recommended to use anymore. However, if you must get into that program and it isn't letting you, there are a couple of things you can try.

You can follow these instructions to download a program that should repair Sitebuilder Desktop long enough for you to get in there and do what you need to do:

https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/windows-10-and-sitebuilder-desktop

Or you can completely reinstall the program following these instructions:

https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/how_do_i_do_a_complete_re_install_of_sitebuilder_de...

With Sitebuilder Plus, I can't tell you which version to use, because that depends on if you have made changes since your last publish. If you have, local. If not, published. There should be a box to check to apply the choice to all files.

The fact that you are still on Sitebuilder Desktop might be contributing to your lowering search engine rankings. Sitebuilder Desktop sites are not responsive or optimized, they are not mobile friendly, they cannot be secured, and they tend to have older outdated elements that Google doesn't really like anymore. As Lynn suggested, I highly recommend taking a look at our Website Builder, the newest builder that all new sites are created in. If you rebuild you site in this builder, it would yield a much better product than you are able to achieve in SB. If you have trouble or do not want to spend the time on it, we do offer design or seo services. Let me know if you want me to have someone call you regarding that.

I'm a bit confused. I don't want the old desktop version it's not working anyway. I only tried using it because I couldn't edit online anymore

So I should uninstall and then the sitebuilder plus downloader link will work?

I'm trying to use SiteBuilder Plus online.  I download it. But it won't install when i click on the .exe  nothing happens.  I've used sitebuilder online in past.  It just doesn't seem to be working since we have new pcs with this windows 10 on it. But I see there is a sitebuilder plus now but it won't install.

I think we are still not clear, because you said "I'm trying to use SiteBuilder Plus online.  I download it." and those are two conflicting sentences. You are either using the online editor or you are downloading the desktop version. You don't download Sitebuilder Plus. You just access it through going online and logging into your Homestead account. I tested going into Sitebuilder Plus on your account and had no issues. I would recommend trying a different browser if the builder isn't working on your end. If the issue is just the message that comes up asking which version you want to use, as I said above, I can't tell you which version to use, because that depends on if you have made changes since your last publish. If you have, local. If not, published. There should be a box to check to apply the choice to all files.

Right when I login it tells me my local and my publish versions are different so when I click to look at the image to see which one to keep I get the following error message above and I’ve tried different browsers.

OK I just tried from my home computer and the same thing when I click on edit site it says verifying that all of your files are up-to-date it starts up site builder plus and then I get that synchronize file message (see pic below) for all my files and it says the published copy and local copy are different. it won’t let me view either of them (see pic below) I’m afraid to just click ‘apply my choice ‘ to all files remaining’ It won’t let me view the publish copy or view the local copy

Should I just assume and download the published copy? I’m sorry I sound so slow. Between windows 10 and office 365 my brain is fried.

I understand. If it is not letting you pull up a preview of the two versions, it is because the program is a bit outdated. I would say you can choose the published version to be safe.
