As we transferred to the new cloud sitebuilder I noticed after publishing that I needed an upgrade for unlimited sites. Well...as a long time customer almost 20 years I am of the few who build websites for a living... I chose Homestead way back in the nineties because they offed unlimited sites. Correct me if I'm wrong but since i'm forced to use the new sitebuilder  and now have to pay another fee for unlimited? Grandfathered in? Any information or explanation is appreciated.

Let me look into this for you. It doesn't appear as though you should be limited. Can you tell me the site name and the exact message you receive?

I went in and it published without error. There is a popup that says you will publish to this site, blah blah blah... but I got nothing about an upgrade. If you see it again, try to get the complete message

I am guessing that message is because you don't have a domain on the site.

I've gotten that message on both the new sites I started. So you are saying it comes up if we are using the homesteadcloud.com or something different?

Yes. It is a message that is unique to the new builder. The packages have not changed though, so if your account allows unlimited pages and sites, then you still have that.

I knew that was the case as I had started multiple sites with it, but thought a bit of clarity was needed for everyone as it is a bit confusing. I'm all for up selling, but perhaps that either needs to be re-worded or eliminated. Not a biggie, but ...  :)
