My site has been down for at least 3 days and still is.  I have tried to reach Homestead, but no live person answers.  I get responses from Drew here, who advises to make DNS changes, except I do not know whether he speaks for or is a part of Homestead.  Google has now informed me that it cannot crawl my site and has stopped doing so. There goes my SEO.  This is completely unacceptable Homestead.  Who is the CEO? He/she needs to hear from me.

Rest assured Craig, Drew is very much a part of and speaks for Homestead. He oversees all the social media and is responsible for helping all of us when we need it.
I've gotten the same message from Google, but have changed my DNS and waiting to see if that resolves Google's issues.
As for the CEO. Endurance International Group owns Homestead and a whole lot of other web site building companies. Homestead though is run on it's own. You can do a search for EIG and find the corporate information.

Homestead's website says the company is: Homestead Technologies, Inc.. The site lists its location as: 10 Corporate Drive, Burlington MA 01803
(602) 267-3600. Not only is no one answering any of their lines - tech support, billing or even sales, when I looked up Homestead Technologies, Inc on the Massachusetts Secretary of State website for listings of corporations, I did not find it. http://corp.sec.state.ma.us/CorpWeb/CorpSearch/CorpSearchResults.aspx  I am troubled.  And if Drew truly represents Homestead, he should make that clear with express bonafides, rather than holding himself out here instead as merely "social media specialist."  Nothing against Drew trying to be helpful, and perhaps he has been to many, but if he does represent Homestead, it should be indicated so that we can rely on his representations as coming from Homestead, not a spectator.

Homestead is not totally on its own. all of the tech is handled by one of the other subsidiaries. and most of the actual techies are overseas. they can't even be reached by phone. total mess.

And if DNS changes are needed, why doesn't Homestead tell us?  Moreover, if it is only a DNS change, why this thread of network issues?  WHERE IS TECH SUPPORT???????  This totally sucks.

I have no idea if you deleted homestead and cleaned out your PC before a clean re-install. This has to be done to be able to edit your website.

do not delete anything. if you are using desktop your website is on your machine. if you delete you could lose everything if migration fails. just leave it and when you can log in again you can upload just like you did before. hang in there.

Seems strange I deleted Homestead and cleaned out my PC and did a clean re-install I was updating when others could not!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't tell someone to do anything I would NOT do!! Besides Homestead gives you a Picture update of your website if you loose it.

ur assuming they will still have a copy of anything. suppose during this "migration" they lose your site? then what? do not delete anything until this blows over. just my opinion.

It may help to run Ccleaner and defrag. Restart your receiver and your modem. Shut down and restart. I wouldn't blame it all on Homestead when it's working for me. I don't work with homestead. Just did a clean reinstall that's all.

Can I please get an update on this? It's really frustrating to keep getting the "unexpected server error" message. I mean, the first time maybe it was unexpected, but 25 times later it's not so unexpected. The last update you've posted was 12/30 saying no ETA but it should be soon and it was all hands on deck - that was four days ago!

Drew, it's happening with the sharpcountybirthclasses.homestead nearly every time. Sometimes it won't go to the error page and will instead bring a blank page up but my browser tab says "site error."

Also happening intermittently when I am clicking on the other sites of my account. Not every time, but that makes it more frustrating because I never know when it'll work and when it will just crap out!

Can't publish changes to my website, gives me "problem uploading" with a close window or upgrade button.  Hit upgrade and it closes down everything, close window makes it appear that the upload is taking place, but it isn't.  Since I was re-designing my website, I deleted all and did a clean install of Sitebuilder.  Same problem exists.  Can't even access my account from the SItebuilder now...choice is grayed out.  Is anyone working on the problem?

People have reported this and hit close window and it published.
Photo of Dwight9475

Dwight9475

  • 262 Points 250 badge 2x thumb
I've tried this and it didn't publish.  Double checked by going to the page on the web and a page with a message from Homestead comes up and reads, "Sorry, Homestead Services are not available" or something similar.  Homestead seems to be having a major problem but won't admit it...but they continue to take our money.
Photo of Sarah5434

Sarah5434

It will show it as being available, but when I click to edit the site, it goes to a blank page. The tab in my browser says "site error" but no actual error message shows up in the webpage itself.
Photo of Dwight9475

Dwight9475

  • 262 Points 250 badge 2x thumb
The error message is "There is a problem uploading this file" and then I hit "close window" and the error message goes away, but the file isn't getting published.  When I go to my site's URL, I get a page that reads:

Homestead

Sorry, services are temporarily unavailable.

Homestead services have been temporarily interrupted. We would like to assure you that we are making every effort to restore service as quickly as possible. We know how much this inconveniences you and very much appreciate your patience.

Time to confess!  Everything is hosed at Homestead, isn't it?

The issue is that we're losing business and profit from our many websites being down for 2 weeks. When is it going to be fixed? Let me guess: we are working around the clock to resolve these issues? WHEN are they going to be resolved? You're getting paid, I have no doubt, for sitting here and trying to pacify angry customers, but what about us, whose survival depends on whether our websites running or not?

This issue is not likely the reson your sites are down. These issue have cause sporadic and minimal impact to customer sites. If you have sites not working, tell us which domain names and we will take a look.

Photo of Drew N

Mileen3055,

It is more likely something specific to your computer. I use Google Chrome all day and have no problems at all viewing sites, as do many of our customers. For the life of me I can't figure out why, unless you somehow managed to add homestead to a prohibited list.

  • 262,796 Points 100k badge 2x thumb
Can you post a screen shot of your Google results showing the issue. It sounds like a security program that doesn't know how to interpret your site. When I Google some keywords I get a small Norton message next to the results that confirms your sites as Safe. I use Norton 360. Is the message you are receiving something similar? They aren't globally blocking your sites as I can reach them is all browsers.

Do you have a program called Spy Doctor? I have found that it has caused Chrome some issues in the past. I have found references to some problems similar and it seems that many people solved it by uninstalling Chrome, and deleting all history, then make sure the Chrome folder in Program files is deleted. Then reboot and re-install. I know you said you reset Chrome, but I am not sure what  steps you took.

I deleted Google, but it was just the first step. I had to activate my antivirus protection and add another program. First I deleted my Computer care spyware program I had. I had thought previously it may have had issues with Google not showing certain pages (not being verified). So far it seams like it's working since I optimized my antivirus for my computer.

Drew this is the only way that I can access chat - I get a message that indicates   Chat key cookie does not match visitor chat key.  My system is down again.  I am able to input into Homestead's E-commerce Simple Store but when I go to obtain so that I can add to my web page, I am getting this error message:   502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server.  This is the second time this week that this has occurred.  I was able to get it fixed by using live chat but now even that is down.  Can you help?
