The first Friday in March(3/1/2019) is National Employee Appreciation Day. Let's face it, if you work alone or have 1000 employees, your business doesn't run without people, so you should appreciate them every day. However, only one day is set aside for celebration, so think about a little extra for those that make your business work, even if that is just you!
Recognition and appreciation are motivational and great for morale. You can provide some sort of performance rewards, or just some heartfelt thank yous. Keep your team engaged. A motivated team is happier and performs at a higher level, making the workplace a more pleasant place to be, and a more efficient organization.
A few ideas
- Have an office pizza party or ice cream party. Whatever works for you and the business.
- Acknowledge jobs well done. Do it in public. You can have a quick word at the pizza party, or just wander around the office saying thanks for a job well done.
- Encourage employees to explore their goals. Most employees want to work to better themselves and contribute more to their organization. Feed that desire and maybe even give them some suggestions on where to look. New skills in your workforce is always good.
