Files in my Drafts folder do not disappear after the e-mail is sent. I'm having a hard time distinguishing between files that are sent and those that need to be sent.

Also, I'm getting errors occasionally that indicated that I've been logged in too long even though only a few minutes (sometimes less than one minute) have passed since I logged in.

Hi Greg0422, There is a known issue causing this which our email admins are aware of and working one. I don't have an ETA yet but hopefully they get it resolved soon. One suggestion/work-around is to use a 3rd party email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

Also, when I log in there is also a number listed which I would like removed. I am not sure why that appears.

The number is not there now when I log in, but when I went to log in, my SS# appeared along with my user name. To say the least I was a bit shocked to see it.

As for my folders, they are the ones I personally created but I see now how to get to them.

I cannot find my existing email folders from the Homestead email account. There were more than 20 folders, with titles such as "Clients," "PARW," "CDI," and others. I saved all these emails for a reason. Now I need one from the "Clients" folder, but the "Clients" folder is nowhere to be found! If I can't get at the email I'm seeking that was in the old "Clients" folder, I'm in huge trouble.

Carolyn3261, Regarding the SS# appearing that sounds like an auto-fill feature in your web browser propagating the field. We do not even store SSN's on file as we have no reason to need them.

Locating email folders in the new OpenXchange email platform.

I really need help. It has taken me a long time to get used to this new email interface. I cannot find any of my old folders that I had in the old interface. The only folders I can see on the left are Drafts, Inbox, Sent Objects, Spam and Trash. Where are all the folders that had all of the emails from my family, friends, business contacts, I had tons of them. I went to do my taxes the other day and was looking for the folder I had saved all my correspondence for years, and it is no where to be found. Did those all get deleted somehow?

Sorry for all the frustration and confusion with the email Debra6686,

Do you know if if he configured your Outlook with POP settings or IMAP settings? The folders won't sync unless it's IMAP, but, sometimes people prefer POP for other reasons.

When you try to delete an email what exactly happens? Outlook 2013 has some new settings that might need adjusted.

If it was IMAP and you are still having problems (especially with deleting or sending email) , it may be due to the way Microsoft changed the 2013 version and the related.ost and .pst data file system. This site explains how Outlook 2013 works: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/out... We do our best to help troubleshoot 3rd party systems, but we can not be experts on someone else's software.

The address book will not sync automatically. Any contacts will have to me manually added, or imported.

Concerning the billing, for this you may want to give us a call. We have other payment options available and if you would like to discuss a credit or refund the telephone agents can do that.

Mike
Photo of Debra6686

Debra6686

  • 774 Points 500 badge 2x thumb
It is set up IMAP....the folders are synced but there is about a hour delay from homestead to my outlook.
When sending/receiving in outlook it could take a hour as it keeps trying to sync folders.....and that is every time you check for new mail.....so If I check every 30 minutes lets say....then there is 2 folders synchronizing and so on.....so basically the send/receive progress screen/box is up all the time. I been trying to reconfigure settings but have no results.
Items that were transferred when the outlook account was created cant be delete from my outlook but can be deleted from homestead.
Any new emails can be deleted from outlook. .
If I use POP settings none of my folders transfer into outlook....send in receive if fast but then both emails are not synced.
Since I need both emails to sync together with all my folders in both emails sync as well..... POP in not my choice.
I cant get my homestead email transferred into my outlook.
I need someone to call and have these issues corrected.

Hi Debra6686, I just received word that the imap email syncing problem is a known issue that they are working on. This is likely the reason you are also unable to delete some emails. The problems you are experiencing are at the server level and already being addressed so there is nothing that a telephone agent can resolve by calling you. We are diligently working on getting these errors fixed. Also (this does not rule out that you may have to contact Microsoft to see if there is a problem with the .ost and/or .pst files).

ok...so you have so called fixed my email issue by moving me to a new platform. ok..and you state that your going to email me a spreadsheet in order to do what? Upload them to outlook?
Here is all I can say at this point....I have been receiving the same emails 2 and 3 times...I now have 183 emails in the last 30 minutes....they are very old ones to new ones.
I am wondering if I log into my email via the www....will I still have access to ALL my emails and ALL contacts and ALL folders and subfolders and ALL calendar events?? I hope for your sake I do....I am in the middle of 2 law suits for clients and all info is in these folders and subfolders and all events, court dates, etc not to mention all my contacts. So please let me know what I can expect while I go and try to get my emails set back up on my smart phones and ipad. I hope your spreadsheet of my contacts and such will import into outlook, since none of mine have and I have had to go in and manually erase over 3 contacts for each person...some had 5 for some strange reason.I have outlook 2010 if that means anything

  • 2,350 Points 2k badge 2x thumb
So your telling me that my employees email addresses can not be imported....That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard! Also how does one report spam now since there is no button for it? also this Open X server is a mess! I think a 5 year old could have designed this better. I have employees that no longer have their contacts in their list and some of the sub folders are missing!!! I am FURIOUS!! any email ending in the-staffroom.com and tsrcanada.com. So why is it that the email associated to the form on my website is no longer active?? I have had 3 people tell me that they were not able to submit resumes or submit the form....this is a great tool!!! NOT
Did you know that GoDaddy is cheaper and is better when it comes to tech support.....I have my other business with them....NO ISSUES....I have a glitch...it is fixed within 12 hours....usually less and I have had 3 issues with them that were my fault, but the point being I have been dealing with this BS with you guys for over a year now...been with you for over 12 years and I get this dumped on me....like owning a business is not stressful enough!!
Photo of Mike F.

Mike F., Alum

  • 184,578 Points 100k badge 2x thumb
No. I did not say that you could not import email addresses. You can still import them.

Unfortunately there currently is not a way to flag spam but this is something being discussed by the email admins. I do know that as of now there is a drastic improvement in the amount of spam coming through the new system as compared to the old system, but it's not perfect by any means. I am hoping they get a customer facing option so that you can flag spam from your end but don't have any eta on that yet.

I know that the new folder tree makes it a little difficult to find some of your old emails, but, if for some reason you think that you are missing some of the old emails or folders, I'll have them unlock your old account so you can log in and get what you need. Just let me know if you want us to do this.

The form/list submit tool has been deleted as we previously discussed. If you have not done so, you'll want to remove the old form submission elements from your site. This feature was purposely removed for many reasons. One of the deciding factors is that it was misused by many people and used to send spam, which contributed to the the blacklist problems that Homestead had several months ago. There were a small % of people sending massive amounts of spam (because that list made it too easy for people to not comply with anti-spam rules), which caused our servers to get blacklisted and then it affected almost all of our customers. We had to make this decision in the best interest of the majority of our customer base.

  • 2,350 Points 2k badge 2x thumb
ok so a few other things like signatures, out of office notice....where are they now? the preferences are bare min. and not as effective at all. How does one now report SPAM and block it? There is no block button for this reason, heck I can not even block out people I do not want to hear from anymore. I also tried to export my contacts and left a screen link since i was not able to upload anything else.
as for the form ability on our website, what do you suggest i use now since everyone is using that method??
I understand that too many were abusing this feature, why not cancel them as a client??
How do I edit my website now then??? I use to go through Homestead and change email addresses, add and delete them, update my website....how is this done now?
Photo of Mike F.

Mike F., Alum

  • 184,578 Points 100k badge 2x thumb
This page shows one method for adding signatures: https://community.homestead.com/homes...

There currently is not an option to mark spam, but it's being considered as an option to add once the migration is completed.

As far as editing your website, the email migration has not changed that at all. Just continue editing the site the same way.

SEND ME MY LIST OF 3,000 EMAIL ADDRESSES.

#1, email is "temporarily unavailable". When will it be available again?

#2, this whole transition has been extremely poorly communicated. From your Dec. 30 email, which was sent to my Gmail account, not my Zimbra account, you made it sound like the transition to the new email would be seamless: "Continue to send and receive email as normal. We'll send you another email with more information once we've upgraded your mailboxes." Obviously, it isn't turning out that way. I don't understand why you would not want to manage your customers' expectations. That means, as soon as you discover a problem, you should communicate it. You would be dealing with a lot fewer disgruntled people at this time, had we known what was happening and what to expect. It's really basic customer service.

#3, at this moment, I am without my mailing list of nearly 3,000 people, which it took many years to build. Until I see it, I consider this list to be lost. Do you realize how huge a problem this is for a small business? In your Dec. 30 email you said, "While we are discontinuing mailing lists, we recognize you may need a record of your list(s). Once we have upgraded all of your mailboxes, we will send you an email with your mailing list(s) attached as a spreadsheet." This makes no sense. Since we are expected to start using an email marketing provider, why didn't you just email these lists to us before the transition? Furthermore, because you sent your Dec. 30 email to my Gmail account, I also expected you to send my spreadsheet to that address. I haven't received anything, so imagine my surprise when I went to send my monthly email tonight, and found all of my lists deleted. Why make me wait for weeks for you guys to set up a replacement email system that can't even handle mailing lists in the first place? Logic seems to have eluded you. I would have happily set up an account with EmailBrain tonight, had I had lists to work with. Hell, if I would have known there would be a lag like this, I would have copied and pasted all 3,000 addresses into my own spreadsheet a month ago.

#4, I've been a loyal customer for 14 years, and after a long period of improvements, have noticed a decline in smart decisions and usability. It seems like Homestead is an ugly step-child that you are doing the minimum for to keep afloat. It's become increasingly clunky. This may be the last straw.

It would be really great if you would send my spreadsheet of 3,000 email addresses to my Gmail account ASAP. Lacking that, hurry up and get the new email functioning. And while you're at it, start communicating with the people who are paying your salary.

What version of Outlook. It might be that your sent and deleted folders in Outlook are mapped to your local computer. If you go to the Account settings, and then More Settings, you should see a tab for Sent items. You can specify a folder on the server, typically it will be displayed as Sent Items.
